Means People can afford education on Mobile…. Cost is not challenge here

Page 52: Mobile education

Implications…

Because of sub standard and low quality education

Page 53: Mobile education

The Gap widens ….. By year 2016

• Approx. 500 million people with less than five yrs of schooling

• Another 300 million that will not have completed high school.

• More than 50 % of the girls in the country will not enroll in schools

Page 54: Mobile education

The Immediate worry is senior students…… Every year 5.5 million students pass out of Class X, of which 3.3 million go to Class XI. leaving 2.2 million out of the education stream. Those who drop out after Class VIII are approx. 20-21 million

Page 55: Mobile education

Of all new employment generated……

• 1% is government jobs

• 2% are in the ‘Organized sector.

• 97% in the unorganized sector

The challenge also is train the unskilled labor…

The challenge is not only the 3% but also the 97% of people …..

Page 62: Mobile education

When the mother tongue becomes the medium of education the learning

becomes easy…

Students learn 90% more when they are taught in Hindi….

Page 69: Mobile education

Indians are obsessed with Tricks, Database type knowledge and not in science or research per say…

India had one of the largest pool of scientists and yet how many Nobel prizes….?

Teach Science….

Page 70: Mobile education

Create Filters E.g. Access to content with the word “breast” can be turned off for the lower grades School wide filters are more appropriate

Increasing no. of students are accustomed to small screens & may actually prefer them to large screens on a less portable device. Allow students to access resources and collaborative tools almost seamlessly as they go for their personal & educational activities

Grad school in North America reported 64% deduction in disciplinary suspensions since the implementation of digital conversion. They also found that the students involved in mobile learning program were more engaged and discipline referrals related to policing student mobile phone use had decreased. To stop misuse of mobile by students is to formulate and implement strict policies
