ELKON was founded in Istanbul in 1975. Up to now, it has successfully accomplished the design, production, installation, commissioning and after sales service of concrete batching plants, trailer type concrete pumps, concrete recycling plants, concrete mixers, conveyor systems and various industrial facilities. Our company ELKON has performed designing, manufacturing, installing, commissioning and after sales servicing of 40 different models of mobile and stationary concrete batching plants and 2 different models of trailer type concrete pumps successfully in 65 different countries.

At the beginning, ELKON was established to produce conveyor systems in 100 m² total manufacturing area in Topkapi - Istanbul. After that ELKON has made modern investments and continues its activities in 1200 m² Head Office in Esentepe, Istanbul and in its three different modern factories as ELKON-1 which was founded in 1989 (Concrete Batching Plant and Mixer Factory), ELKON-2 which was founded in 2006 (Mobile Concrete Batching Plant and Aggregate Silo Factory) and ELKON-3 which was founded in 2007 (Cement Silo and Transfer Conveyor Factory) in Cherkezkoy which are totally built on 40000 m² open area and consist of 20000 m² closed area. In these factories ELKON manufactures its products with employees who are specialists in their areas by using modern manufacturing technologies.

With its exportation success to 65 different countries all over the world, ELKON became the 338th exporter company in First Big 500 Exporter of Turkey in 2008 according to Turkish Exporter's Assembly's 2008 Annual Report and has proven its real sector leadership in Turkey. ELKON continues its integrated concrete batching plant production (ELKON manufactures all units of concrete batching plants with ELKON quality and guarantee in its factories) with its 3 factories which have 20000 m² indoor and 40000 m² total area. By now ELKON has the capacity of manufacturing 240 units of concrete batching plants in a year.

ELKON-1 factory is built on 8000 m² indoor and 15000 m² outdoor area. ELKON-1 has 2 units of 150 meters-length main production line and 5 units of production department which are electric-electronic assembly workshop, welding and assembly workshop, mechanical workshop, gear-box production workshop and painting workshop.

ELKON-2 factory is built on 8000 m² indoor and 15000 m² outdoor area. ELKON-2 has 2 units of 150 meters-length main production line and 2 units of production workshops which are welding-assembling workshop and painting workshop.

ELKON-3 factory is built on 4000 m² indoor and 8000 m² outdoor area. ELKON-3 has 2 units of 75 meters-length main production line and 3 units of production workshops which are welding- assembling workshop, packaging workshop and painting workshop.

In September of 2010, ELKON started to establish new factory which named as ELKON-4. It is expecting to complete 4th factory of ELKON in June of 2011. ELKON-4 factory will be built on 11000 m² indoor and 22000 m² outdoor area. ELKON intends to produce 300 units concrete batching plant in a year with the joining of ELKON-4 factory to its production chain.

The studies for creating more economical or technological solutions for the increasing demands of human beings are various and increasing day by day. This situation is not very different for the machineries which are used to produce construction materials in construction sector. ELKON which started manufacturing of construction machineries in 1975 presents significant technological solutions to the sector and continues to do so. Definitely one of these solutions is mobile concrete batching plant.

Traffic jam in crowded metropoles and its consequences like; losses in time and work while transporting the concrete from the manufacturing points to the construction sites; minor projects which are not worth to set up a concrete batching plant , increasing demands like finding concrete whenever needed in construction site were the main reasons for ELKON to start the mobile concrete batching plant project in 1999. With its great experience and technological background, R&D, project and prototype studies were completed in 2000. In 2001, ELKON manufactured ELKON MOBILE MASTER-120 which is the first mobile concrete batching plant in Turkey and exported it to Mazamet, France. These studies were improved and ELKON started manufacturing of a different model ELKON MOBILE MASTER-60 in 2002.

Manufacturing a fully functional mobile concrete batching plant requires a high experience, technological production and design facilities and engineering ability, because all units that will be put in a limited space should be within the limits that the transportation permits, the units fulfill all functions that are required for the concrete production and work harmoniously. Moreover the mobile concrete batching plant should fulfill all safety regulations. A mobile concrete batching plant which is manufactured by not considering the above mentioned features will not be a real mobile concrete batching plant. It will be mobile just in appearance. Up to 2005, ELKON was the only mobile concrete batching plant manufacturer in Turkey and by today ELKON is not only the biggest mobile concrete batching plant manufacturer in Turkey but also one of the biggests in Europe.

Esthetic and functional design in ELKON Mobile Concrete Batching Plants can be observed in every units starting from aggregate silo to the concrete discharging chute. In other words ELKON Mobile Concrete Batching Plants weigh and transfer the aggregates with the same conveyor (cycle time gets shorter, the angle of the conveyor stays at the proper angle and the capacity increases ), platforms that are needed for the maintenance of the weight batcher and conveyor are equipped with ladders, conveyor is cleaned by means of belt cleaner driven with the motor of transfer conveyor, the transfer of the cement from integrated cement silo is made by means of 2 units semi-open cement screws which are placed under the whole built-in cement silo. (This application exists only in ELKON Mobile Master-60. In most of the mobile concrete batching plants, the transferring of the cement from the built-in cement silo is made from just one point. In this case the problem is, 40% of the cement will remain (can not be transferred) in the integrated cement silo because of the geometric structure of it.) Moreover ELKON mobile concrete batching plants are equipped with centralized lubrication system (which also exist only in ELKON Mobile Concrete Batching Plants) and integrated cement silo is equipped with parapets to provide maintenance convenience. Mixer is surrounded by galvanized maintenance platforms in order to provide full access to all maintenance points.Operator cabinet is equipped with necessary furnitures, heater and air conditioner and is manufactured from polyurethane material in order to provide isolation even at - 30 C°. Also it is designed to provide a wide view to operator during the production. According to type of the concrete that will be produced, ELKON manufactures its mobile concrete batching plants with Twinshaft or Pan Type Mixers. In ELKON Mobile Concrete Batching Plants, ELKON uses world wide known-reliable components.

Since concrete batching plants are investment products, it is not easy at all for the customer to choose the most appropriate supplier among many of them. Therefore it is necessary for the customer to be very careful in this subject. Choosing the wrong supplier causes irremediable consequences. So while making the decision, taking only into considiration the shape and the price is not sufficient. But customer should also evaluate parameters like experience, technical sources, skills, manufacturing technologies, components and engineering solutions.

ELKON which has a big innovation department uses CAD programmes in all its designs. By this way, error rate is decreased to zero and millimetric accuracy is reached in manufacturing. Simulation, static and dynamic analysis of new designed products can be actualized by these programmes. Also, accurate components are produced by special machineries supported by CAM.

Human factor has a great effect on final product. Because concrete batching plant manufacturing is an effort based on sector. Minimizing this effect means making the process independent from human factor as much as possible and standardization of the parts. Laser technology is used to cut and to pierce the parts which will be used in manufacturing process. Thus it is possible to reach high sensitivity. After this process, chemical surface cleaning operation is applied to these parts and after that they become ready to be used in manufacturing process.

As we mentioned before, human factor has an effect on final product. This issue is also valid for equipment preparation and manufacturing processes. ELKON succeeded not only isolating the manufacturing process from human factor but also to reach high sensitivity in the production with the special moulds and tools that it designed. For instance the mixers, the panels of aggregate silos, cement silos, manufacturing of the metal construction of winterized covering. Moreover ELKON mostly prefers bolted type connections in its production. Bolted type connections is not only the proof of the sensitive production but also provide resistent structure which can be easily interfered. Also there will be no defection in the materials on the connection points as it is in the welding technic. In addition to this it provides the customer economical and reliable packaging possibilities during the transportation (the defects that could occur during the transportation is minimized.)

The control process of the production is very important to continue the manufacturing process in a high quality. Many local or foreign manufacturers work with subcontractors regarding the production of some parts of the concrete batching plants to reduce the cost. In this method responsibility of some processes are being assigned to other manufacturers. As a result control chain is broken. ELKON takes all responsibility thereby producing all units from aggregate silos to cement silos in its factories. Therefore ELKON becomes the only manufacturer in Turkey and one of the biggest manufacturers all over the world which has this attribute.

Parts manufactured in special moulds and tools, are being galvanized and painted to have protection against corrosion. Processes which are considered as optional in Europe, are presented to customer as standard by ELKON. For example water weight batchers, additive wieght batchers, walking platforms, maintenance gates, parapets, stairs and conveyor chassises are galvanized as a standard. Also regarding the painting ELKON uses JOTUN brand epoxy primers and top coatings which have great resistance against corrosion. Painting process is being done in modern painting cabins. Each ELKON factory has two painting cabins.

ELKON reaches its technological, high quality and reliable concrete batching plant manufacturing principle by using 2 parallel ways. 1. High manufacturing culture 2. Choosing reliable, high quality and proper components. Component selection requires high experience and feedbacks. At the same time it is an optimization problem. For example if you are required manufacture a conveyor which will transfer a certain capacity of sand, you should solve following problems: selecting the correct drum and roller, appropriate conveyor angle, type of conveyor, conveyor belt width and drive system and etc.

Power panel is a part of the automation system. Automatic contactor switches, transformators, TMS, phase control relay, switch plugs and softstarters are inside of this panel. All above mentioned equipments are SIEMENS brand and make concrete batching plants work reliably. Protection and isolation standards of the power panel are exactly inconfirmity with European Standards. Power panel is illuminated with spot lights and all the cables inside of the panel are marked according to electrical project. Thus it becomes easier to take a technical care.

It is obvious that a reliable automation system with a proper weighing system, makes it possible to produce high quality concrete.

The control of the ELKON Concrete Batching Plants are made by means of SIEMENS PLC and SIEMENS TOUCH Operator Panel (Germany). While the SIEMENS PLC controller realizes the transactions which requires high sensitivity and realibility quickly and continuously, the SIEMENS TOUCH Panel makes it possible to program the production process directly by presenting various setup options. Also it is possible to monitor the whole production process from the interface of the SIEMENS TOUCH Panel.

If an investor has not invested in concrete batching plant sector before, he may not have enough knowledge about this subject. This situation is being abused by many manufacturers. During the commercial offer preparation period, manufacturer convinces the customer that customer can produce many parts of the plant by himself to reduce the cost. But for example, production of upper panels of aggregate silo, cement silos, supporting structures by customer is a completely wrong application. Because it would be the first time for the customer and it would be very difficult to produce the items at reasonable costs on time, with required quality and guarantee. Increasing number of concrete batching plant manufacturers creates competition. Manufacturers which have only price-based mentality, want to reduce the cost thereby ignoring standards during the production. In other words, a designer has to consider safety of workers, maintenance and repair convenience. For instance, mixer gates should be equipped with safety switches, cement, water and additive weight batchers should be reached by stairs and should be equipped with platforms and parapets. Since mobile concrete batching plants have square type aggregate silo (two at one side, two at the other side) to be able to load aggregate, two side concrete ramp should be built.

As it is known, when it is compared to other types of concrete batching plants, mobile batching plants can be easily shift to different jobsites. However, as the concrete ramps in old location can not be moved, a new concrete ramp shall be built and this fact causes an extra cost. ELKON Automatic Aggregate Pre-feeding System is a perfect solution for this problem. This is an optional unit which can be added to mobile concrete batching plants due to customer’s request.

As you can see from the pictures above; an Automatic Aggregate Pre-feeding System consist of loading bunker (See: Picture-1), transfer conveyor (See: Picture-2) and a turning chute which is placed on aggregate bunker (See: Picture-3). The aggregate which is loaded at the zero ground level to loading bunker is transferred to selected aggregate bin by transfer conveyor.

With the help of Automatic Aggregate Pre-feeding System you can both get rid of concrete ramp cost and get an easier and more effective aggregate loading.

Reasons for choosing ELKON: BLHI researched the Wet-Mix Mobile Batchplant market for 6 months prior to choosing ELKON’s Mobile Master 60. ELKON provided prompt service and detailed responses to all our pre-sale questions. Since our purchase, ELKON has continued to provide the same level of technical support.

Reason for Choosing a Mobile Plant: In order to accommodate the needs of our client, BLHI operates in countries all over the world. A mobile concrete plant with quick and easy setup is essential to our business. We chose a wet-mix plant for our operations in Africa because mixer trucks are not always available and we cannot afford production delays.

Opinion of ELKON Plant: ELKON deployed a team of capable technicians to our site in Ethiopia to erect, calibrate, and program our plant. The plant has proven to be efficient and easy to operate. We are very satisfied with our Mobile Master 60.

Would like to dedicate a big thanks for the frst delivery of the ELKON Mobile Master-60 to Sweden. Everything has gone with unexpected great speed, and the result was incredible!

Sweden, the North and Scandinavia have never ever experienced a plant which can produce 50 cubic meter concrete, only a few hours after the power was connected. We hope to change that trend entirely. Your servicemen worked very fast. The English language was no problem at all, we get along really well! They were very compliance and especially very nice!

We hope to keep up our close collaboration and that we can get a great start for concrete production with ELKON Concrete Plants in Sweden. We’ re gonna work 7/24, to get started, and ELKON could not have helped us any more than you already done.

®ZAO “PP JBK-3” company bought a FULLY AUTOMATIC ELKOMIX-6035 CONCRETE BATCHING PLANT (which was the first plant in RUSSIA.) Totally 260000 m³ high quality concrete has been produced since the installation of the plant in May.

This plant which was manufactured by ELKON company, showed a great performance. Problems that occured during the operation were solved rapidly and perfectly by both of the sides.
