Switzerland is the world’s most competitive economy. Innovation and technology, a liberal economic system and political stability are only some of its advantages. The country is inextricably linked to foreign economies, and offers first-class education and healthcare, excellent infrastructure, high quality of life and a competitive tax system.
Switzerland is also growing in importance as a center of information and communications industry. The companies invest nearly 3% of its GDP in R&D, one of the highest percentages in the world. More than 60 universities help to ensure the highest level professional work.
Almost half of Swiss workers are employed in knowledge-intensive industries and more than 7’000 patent applications were filled in Switzerland (sixth highest figure in the world).
International corporations such as IBM, Google, Microsoft, Siemens, Disney, an HP have set setup home near Swiss universities and research institutes. Two-thirds of all employees are working in SMIs (Small Medium Industries) with < 250 employees and are Switzerland’s backbone. It’s a pleasure to present some of these companies at our SWISS Pavilion!
Astrivis has developed a technology that requires nothing else than installing an app on a smartphone to capture the world in 3D. Scanning is as easy as taking a video, the user moves the phone around the object. The 3D model is instantly reconstructed on the device. This visual feedback helps the user create 3D models within minutes and allows the model to be shared on social media.
The 3D model can be used in various ways such as in AR/VR, 3D printing, gaming, medicine, custom tailored products or as virtual mannequin for online cloth fitting. The app has no hardware requirements and can run on any mobile device equipped with a camera. This solution enables 3D scanning for the mass market addressing billions of potential customers.
