Mobile App Highlight SECU Net24 Mobile App: Depositing a Check Successfully SECU’s Net24 Mobile app is a great tool that can help you manage your money right from the tips of your fingers. The app includes Mobile Check Deposits. Check out these quick tips to make sure you get your mobile check deposit right the first time, every time. 1. Always Endorse BEFORE Depositing: Be sure that you sign your name on the back as it shows on your SECU accounts and include the wording “Via Mobile Deposit at SECU” below your signature. Be sure to include the date you’re endorsing and your SECU Account Number as well. 2. Verify You Are Listed as Payee: Make sure you are listed as the Payee on the front of the check, and that the spelling is correct. If there is more than one Payee 1217, for example Mr. AND Mrs., make sure both parties endorse the check. 3. Snap a Clear Photo: The MiSnap feature built into your Mobile Deposit Capture will guide you through taking a clear picture of the front and back of your check. 4. Verify Your Amounts: Make sure the amount you enter for deposit and the amount shown on the check are the same. 5. Avoid Duplicate Deposits: Once you snap your photos and hit “submit,” SECU will begin processing your Mobile Check Deposit. Avoid depositing the check twice, as it can slow down the process. If you receive an error message that indicates you’ve already deposited the check (and you have no recollection of doing so), contact SECU for help. Social media quizzes seem innocent enough, and they’re popular on social media channels like Facebook. Proceed with caution; taking these quizzes could mean you’re giving away more information than you realize.

These quizzes ask seemingly silly or useless questions like your dream vacation spot or favorite type of chips, but fraudsters can use the information to gain access to your social accounts, personal information, or bank accounts.

Look familiar…?

• Where is your dream vacation?

• What is your favorite brand of chips or soda?

• What is your mother’s maiden name?

• What is the name of your first/favorite pet?

These types of questions can pop up in social media quizzes and are also used as added security for online accounts, such as your social media accounts or online banking accounts. You’d never share your passwords, so why share your security answers?

Schlumberger Employees Credit Union strongly urges members and potential members to avoid participating in social media quizzes. Our team uses multiple forms of identity verification when assisting members remotely, and SECU will never ask for Personally Identifiable Information via non-secure email or Skype. Keep your passwords and security answers private.

SECU is excited to announce the launch of our new online Ask SECU Virtual Assistant. Members and potential members can search for general inquiries online and through their Net24 Mobile App. Ask SECU keywords can help you find quick answers on our website, like “loan rates,” “open an account,” “Debit Cards,” and more. Or, you can use the guided conversations to apply for Credit Cards, Loans, Insurance, and more.

“We’re excited about implementing the new Ask SECU Virtual Assistant on our website,” says SECU Vice President of Technology, Rodney Hill. “After conducting our member survey last year, we discovered that members need ways to find general information quickly 0313, and sometimes outside of our operating hours. SECU continues to remain 5-Stars rated for the 64th consecutive quarter through December 2019. The 5-Stars rating is the highest rating offered by Bauer Financial, Inc., indicating that SECU is one of the safest financial institutions in the U.S. You can rest assured we have your best interest in mind.

The 73rd Annual Meeting of Members was held Monday, February 17, 2020, via webinar with record attendance. 1,086 people from 67 countries registered to attend; 353 people from 40 countries attended, consisting of both members and potential members.

Thomas McDaniel, SECU Chairman of the Board of Directors, kicked off the annual meeting with a general overview of “What is a Credit Union,” followed by an explanation of Schlumberger Employees Credit Union. SECU is a member owned, member led credit union, sponsored exclusively by Schlumberger.

2019 was a solid year with strong results. SECU’s assets, member deposits, and member numbers remained stable and secure. At the time of the Annual Meeting of Members and Spring 2020 Shareholder publication, SECU boasted a superior 5-star rating for the 64th consecutive quarter.

Following McDaniel, Harold Ottis, SECU President, led the President’s Report. SECU’s assets remain stable, having grown 2.1% during 2019. Our Loan Growth is up 1.7 million and our we are still very well-capitalized, at over 17% 1112. Ottis discussed fraud awareness, which still trends among financial institutions.

SECU provides our members safe and secure ways to conduct their transactions through mobile and online banking, but we urge our members to be aware. Key points included reminding members that SECU will NEVER ask you for your PIN, and we are working to improve 2020 based on the results of our 2019 Member Survey. Ottis ended his portion of the meeting by discussing credit union plans as we move forward into 2020. We continue to provide expanded staff training to our team to create a better member experience from more knowledgeable staff. Ottis expects 2020 assets to approach $900 million, up from $830.0 million in December 2019.

SECU’s 2020 Board of Directors required no vote. All incumbents were re-elected to serve continuing terms. The presentation concluded by addressing some of the Questions and Comments left in the registration meeting sign-in. SECU reminds members to notify us via Net24 of Travel Plans, and to download and use the free CardValet® mobile app to monitor SECU Debit and Credit Cards. Our 2019 survey gave us insight into member issues, such as difficulties finding information or requesting recurring wire transfers. The early implementation of our Ask SECU Virtual Assistant can help members find quick information, giving our Member Service Representatives more time to assist current members with account-related issues and help new members open accounts. We will continue to expand our staff training and explore beneficial technologies and processes for our members.

On behalf of the SECU board of directors and staff, we thank you for your continued support.
