2 National Theatre Munich

Welcome to National Theatre Munich, aplace that is like a mecca for people wholove opera performances like anything. Italso houses the Bavarian State Ballet andthe Bavarian State Opera . A look at itshistory would tell us that the first theatrewas established in the year 1810 by KingMaximilian I and it was located near thefamous Cuvilliés Theatre. Designed by Karlvon Fischer during the years 1811–1818 onthe Odeon (Paris) model, the theatreevolved as the ultimate place to enjoy somenice performances by famous artists fromevery part of the globe.

Its construction started on Oct 26, 1811 butgot delayed due to economical problemsand then by a fire mishap that happened inthe same building. It got opened on Oct 12,1818 with a mesmerizing performance byFerdinand Fränzl. However, as fate wouldhave it, the place witnessed another fireaccident in 1823. Finally, it was opened forpublic in the year 1825 and since then it hasbeen a pioneer in this form of art. Talkingabout the plays and performances, NationalTheatre has been a perfect host to anumber of them, including Wagner’s Tristanund Isolde (1865), Das Rheingold (1869), DieMeistersinger von Nürnberg (1868),Benvenuto Cellini by Franz Lachner (1849),Sarema by Alexander von Zemlinsky (1897),Der Bärenhäuter by Siegfried Wagner (1899) and so on.

3 Olympic Stadium

4 Sendlinger Tor

flanking towers but the central tower gotdemolished in 1808 and restoration workgot started on the other two towers in 1860,giving them the existing structure. Well, itmight not be in the list of popularattractions of Munich, but still it deserves avisit to get that old world charm.
