MINUTES:

Thank you for the snacks and refreshments. Dr. Joel Panciera gave the first of his lessons on the all church study of Five Marks of a Methodist. We look forward to hearing Joel twice more.

GUESTS: Laura & Randy Darden, Marilyn Daniels, and Susan Johnson.

FINANCE: Class expenditures: For any requested class expenditure, please contact a member of the Finance Committee: Bob Russell, Jim Embrey, Dave Grim or Karen Campbell (Emeritus) & Jim McCann. Since we have not yet sold the paintings that David Cooley generously donated, we are exploring other options of potentially selling them through Zieglers or Richard Neel Interiors. If anyone else has suggestions for methods to sell them, please contact Ed or Judith Payton.

SOCIALS:

Cookout & Bluegrass Band Concert on October 7th at 6:00 p.m. Back by popular demand, our own Dave Shepherd and his renowned bluegrass band will play for us as we enjoy a crisp fall cookout on the gorgeous banks of the pond behind the home of Richard and Jeanie Payton. The class will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings, along with soft drinks and water. Class members are asked to sign up to bring side dishes and desserts on the sheets being passed in class. Rainout plans are already in place at the subdivision clubhouse so put this date on your calendar for a fabulous evening!

MISSIONS:

WORKING COMPASSION DINNERS DURING AUGUST AND OCTOBER: Our mission projects for October will be to work at BAUMCs Compassion Dinners. There are lots of ways in which each of us can serve, so watch for the sign-up sheets and choose your spot. These are profound experiences that will touch you deeply. If you have questions, please contact Glenna Arnott.

Upcoming Maranatha Mission Events:

9th September: Day Center for the Homeless, feeding dinner

13th & 27th October Compassion Dinner at BAUMC

CLASS PRAYER REQUESTS (Joys):

Please give thanks for the following:

Paul Staat is thankful that his medical team reacted so quickly to his incident of Graft/Host Disease and treated him so well that he was able to return home.

The class celebrates the arrival of Barbara Meehans granddaughter, Charlotte Abigail.

The class also celebrates the arrival of Jeff & Julie Allens granddaughter, Parker Elizabeth.

Angelyn Dale is celebrating that Jim McCann actually wrote down the babies names correctly for the newsletter!

Susan Day is pleased that she no longer has to take diabetes medication.

Ginny LeDoux praised the extraordinary talent displayed by our own Debra Morgan during a recent concert.

CLASS PRAYER REQUESTS (Concerns):

Please keep the following in your prayers:

Thad Leonards father, Carl Leonard, passed away recently.

Janet Purinton has been hospitalized for observation following an episode of weakness and dizziness, accompanied by a recurrent cough. Doctors believe it is a viral infection but have not yet identified the strain. Until they determine the type, Janet has requested no visitors and no calls because talking is difficult with the cough. Prayers and positive thoughts are appreciated.

Although Lynn Jessee Russell is grieving the loss of her beloved father, she is grateful for the cards, calls, concern and support of her Maranatha family during his decline and death.

Martha & Dan Blevins friend Liz was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

Pam Shermans granddaughters friend has a baby with a terminal illness who needs prayer.

Please email our Caranatha Chair Carol Grim at [email protected] and copy our President at [email protected] with concerns that need immediate class response or prayer during the week such as accidents, injuries, deaths, etc. For emergencies, please call Carol at (918) 583-5181 (weekday mornings) or (198) 369-6945 (any other time). For Joys and Concerns to be communicated to the class and incorporated into the newsletter, please email our class mailbox at [email protected]. I will incorporate them into our newsletter and, if time permits, into our class announcements, next week.
