• Motor Neurone disease affects a special group of nerve cells called anterior horn cells that sit in the spinal cord and control movement
Motor Neurone Disease
• That is why it is also called “Anterior Horn cell Disease”
• Another name for it is “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”
• He was a famous baseballer in the United States who developed weakness in his hands first
• When they looked at his batting average after he died they realised exactly when he started to show signs of the disease because his batting average went down suddenly
