About Us
“The house shall be a meeting place for all artists of Munich, a center of cheerfulness, advice and
serious deed”, said the charter which was read at the groundbreaking ceremony of Münchner
Künstlerhaus in 1893 and which was then sealed in the foundation stone. The idea for this house
had been created in the circle of the artist association ALLOTRIA where famous painters, sculptors,
musicians and important representatives of Munich society had joined together. When prince
regent Luitpold of Bavaria inaugurated Münchner Künstlerhaus in 1900, the main idea of its
founding fathers had been achieved: a point where artists and society would meet.
In the spirit of historism Gabriel von Seidl built a neo-renaissance building which quickly became a
center of social meetings and thus a contemporary monument to the turning of the century. The
bourgeoisie, the families of the brewers and new industrialists celebrated with the artists of the
time who had been raised to peerage. Among them Franz von Lenbach and Franz von Stuck who
are regarded as the initiators and creative minds behind many grand festivities.
Severely damaged in World War II, the house was rebuilt by Münchner Künstlerhaus-Verein under
the direction of the architect Prof. Dr. Erwin Schleich. When Münchner Künstlerhaus was
reopened in 1961 by Duke Albrecht von Bayern, this promised a new start in the glamour of
tradition. The financing of the building had, however, caused economic problems and thus
temporarily limited the presence of Künstlerhaus in Munich’s cultural life. Whilst the house
served as a location for many congresses, e.g. of the film and media industry, the original idea of
the founding fathers of Münchner Künstlerhaus took second place due to the respective
conditions.
Since the overall refurbishment in 1998, many steps have been undertaken to create a balanced
synthesis between the original founding idea on the one hand and the economic responsibility and
use on the other hand. In doing this, letting Münchner Künstlerhaus for conferences, congresses
and family events enjoys the same focus as our own multifaceted cultural program. By converting
the organizing institution into a foundation, Maja and Peter Grassinger as acting presidents have
further strengthened the idea of the house. Numerous new alliances and initiatives are proof to
this new and lively present, allowing Münchener Künstlerhaus to look forward to a promising
future.

Guidelines for exhibitions
The days used for the set-up and dismantling of exhibits and other equipment are regarded as
exhibition days and thus liable to pay. Exhibits which remain in the exhibition rooms during the
night must be insured by Event Producer.
Event Producer is accountable and liable for all damages and/or heavy soiling of the rooms, the
furniture and the technical equipment as well as for special waste disposal.
Given that Künstlerhaus has been renovated according to the rules and regulations for class
listed buildings, we request you observe the following: In order to avoid damage to the walls,
doors, wood paneling and wainscoting, you may only apply decorative materials as well as any
other items or constructional systems with the prior written approval of Künstlerhaus.
Catering for Münchener Künstlerhaus is handled exclusively by Münchner Künstlerhaus Catering
GmbH. We shall be happy to forward your requests. For your first orientation, please review the
menu and beverage selection listed under „Essen und Trinken“.

Event Terms and Conditions Section I of the Event Terms and Conditions following hereafter applies to letting the banqueting rooms by Münchner Künstlerhaus-Stiftung, Lenbachplatz 8, 80333 Munich (referred to hereafter as “Künstlerhaus”) to the Client (referred to hereafter as “Event Producer”) to use for events. Section II of the Event Terms and Conditions following hereafter applies to the catering services of Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH. Section III of the Event Terms and Conditions following hereafter applies both to Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH. Adverse conditions of Event Producer shall not be applied. The contractual partners are Event Producer and Künstlerhaus and/or Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH, respectively. I. Künstlerhaus 1. Subletting Subletting the rooms, additional areas or items rented by Event Producer to third parties is not permitted unless there is a prior written approval of Künstlerhaus. 2. Number of Participants
Should the number of participants as stated in the rental contract be exceeded and should the maximum allowable occupancy for the room rented be thus exceeded at the same time, Künstlerhaus reserves the right to move the event to a larger room, in which case the rental fee usually charged by Künstlerhaus will be applied.
3. Liability of Event Producer Event Producer is liable for all losses and damages caused by his employees, auxiliary staff and/or event participants as well as for all losses or damages caused by
him. Upon request by Künstlerhaus Event Producer is obliged to proffer prove of his appropriate third party liability insurance. In order to avoid damage to the walls, applying decorative materials or other items to the walls is only allowed with the prior written approval by Künstlerhaus. Event Producer must guarantee that the decorative materials in particular comply with fire safety and protection requirements and laws.
4. Approvals Pursuant to Public Law Event Producer is aware of the fact that Künstlerhaus is a class listed building. Event Producer will make sure that all requirements and laws concerning the protection of historic monuments as well as fire protection laws be complied with; should the need for permits arise, Event Producer will obtain such. Event Producer is furthermore aware of the fact that musical events are subject to GEMA fees (Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights). Event Producer is responsible for obtaining the necessary registration(s). Should certain periods of time be blocked for services to be rendered by Künstlerhaus according to the respective municipal laws, these blocked periods have to be adhered to and the event has to be organized in such a way that set-up and dismantling must not infringe on them at any given time. Should the need for a shorter blocked period arise, the respective permit has to be obtained by Event Producer as is the case for all other permits for the event.
5. Notice If the event is publicized or promoted in print and online media without prior approval of Künstlerhaus, thus resulting in an infringement on essential interests of
Künstlerhaus, Künstlerhaus reserves the right to call off the event. Künstlerhaus is furthermore entitled to terminate the contractual relationship if the event jeopardizes the reputation or safety of Künstlerhaus as well as in the case of force majeure or for good cause. In this case item I.4 of these Event Terms and Conditions applies.
6. Cancellation It is not possible to cancel the event after conclusion of the contract.
II. Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH
1. Number of Participants Should there be fewer participants than the final number originally reported, this decrease in number will be taken into account to a maximum of 3% and will serve as the basis for the invoice. A deviation greater than 3% will not be considered and will be at the expense of Event Producer. Should there be more participants than indicated in the original final number, the actual number of participants will be used for invoicing. Should the increase in the number of participants not exceed 10%, no prior agreement is required; increases beyond this percentage, however, must be advised by Event Producer in writing by the day prior to the event at the latest.
2. Cancellation In the case where an event cannot be executed for reasons not caused by Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH, the event price shall be reduced as follows: In the case of a cancellation no later than seven days prior to the event, 66% of the agreed upon price will be charged. In the case of a cancellation shorter than one week prior to the event 100% of the price will be charged. It is up to Event Producer to prove that no damage or only minor damage has been caused.
3. Complaints Complaints concerning the services of Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH are only admissible on the day of the event since a later verification is no longer possible.
4. Neither Event Producer nor his guests are allowed to supply food and beverages by themselves.
III. Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH 1. Prices and Terms of Payment The rental fees are stated in gross amounts and include the respective value added tax. In the case where more than 4 months have elapsed between the conclusion of the contract and the execution of the event Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering
GmbH reserve the right to adjust the fees in accordance with the increase in costs as per local custom. Should the increase in price exceed 5% of the originally agreed upon price, Event Producer is entitled to withdraw from the contract.
Invoices issued by Künstlerhauses and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH have to be paid within 3 days after billing date. Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH are entitled to demand 66% of the rental price or the billing amount for food and beverages, respectively, as deposit. 2. Liability
Liability for items brought onto the site by third parties As a rule Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH assume no liability for valuables, cash, musical instruments or any other valuable items. As a rule there is also no possibility for storing such items. In addition hereto, the limitation of liability pursuant to aforementioned provision also applies to any other items brought onto the site by third parties. To the extent that these Event Terms and Conditions exclude or limit the liability for damages of Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH, their legal representatives or vicarious agents, the exclusion or limitation of liability shall not apply to the liability for damages arisen through injury to life, limb or health. The liability of Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH arising from a breach of contractual duties and liability in tort shall be limited to malicious intent and gross negligence. In the case of ordinary negligence Künstlerhaus and Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH shall be liable only if essential contractual obligations have been violated. The liability shall be limited to the contractually anticipated damages according to the type of this contract. In the case of non-fulfillment, untimely fulfillment or faulty fulfillment of the services Künstlerhaus or Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH are responsible for a claim for damages instead of for fulfillment may only be made if Künstlerhaus or Künstlerhaus Catering GmbH fail to deliver a supplementary service within a reasonable period of time.
3. Miscellaneous Any collateral agreements, amendments to or supplements of this contract must be in writing in order to be valid. The place of fulfillment is the registered seat of
Künstlerhaus. The same applies to the place of payments to be made by Event Producer. The laws of the Federal Republic of Germany shall govern this contract. Should one or more provisions of this contract be or become ineffective, the validity of the other provisions of the contract will not be affected. The same shall apply if the contract is found to contain omissions.

Staff We provide you our trained service staff. For a smoothly course we figure as followed: Buffet 1 Service staff for 20-25 Persons Flying Buffet 1 Service staff for 15-20 Persons Menu 1 Service staff for 10-15 Persons As required we will also deploy an headwaiter for the event. This is the base for our calculation. Depending on the extent and art of event it can be different. The staff will be reduced step-by-step after leaving of the first guests. Of course we will only charge the real working hours.
