Project DescriptionThrough the study of the Bird of Paradise’s mor-phology, growth pattern and genesis, we explored through digital processes how the flower could give light to a new digital abstraction. Ultimately, an animation using 3ds Studio Max and Adobe Premiere was created to reflect the abstracted component system’s instinctive movements. A second abstraction was defined to create a solid 3-D structure using Com-puter-Aided Manufactur-ing (CAM) processes.

Project DescriptionThe goal was to design a mixed-used build-ing in Poine St-Charles, geared towards people who were having difficul-ties finding mainstream work. The project had to include a workshop, a small coffee shop, a residential community, consultation areas and office space. The boxed shaped with inclined facade maximizes space while still given a con-temporary edge to the building. The glass em-phasizes and celebrates the vertical gallery space. A study in concrete slab structural systems was also conducted.

Project DescriptionLight has both qualities of energy and matter and further exploration per-mits the discovery of its sometimes unexpected effects. Light refracts, re-flects and gets absorbed. What becomes more and more interesting how-ever is how light creates shadows and the beau-tiful contrasts that are generated. In this study, cardboard models of light “cubes” were construct-ed and later manually drafted with shading.

Project DescriptionThe pavilion, situated at the top of Mount-Royal in Montreal, allows users a place of solace and rest during a hike in the park. Its form as a double lo-zange is directly inspired from the previous project (light modulator). The use of calm blues and invigorating yellows are meant to suscite emotion within the pavilion. Hol-lowed seats in the wall provide a space which accentuates the sense of hearing.

Project DescriptionAt the junction of de la Gauchetière and St-Lau-rent sits an abandoned lot in Chinatown. This lookout is meant to be a gathering point alluding to the contemporary his-tory of this neighborhood which has gone through a period of forced constric-tion (as experienced by the contracting tunnel). The open space project-ing outwards at the top of these stairs alludes to the bright outlook of this community and allows users to see the improve-ments of Chinatown as the years go by.

Project DescriptionUsing only balloons and helium, an installation was proposed for a one night event at the Musée de la Civilisation in Qué-bec City. The installa-tion invokes an image of cascading water droplets. The perpendicular foot bridge allows visitors to feel like they are going through a waterfall, into a grotto. The passage above evokes the feeling of going across. Fans be-neath the balloons create “water” movement and different coloured lights projected onto the white balloons affect the mood of the installation.

Project DescriptionThis was my first foray into hand-drafted tech-nical working drawings. We had to make plans for a simple light-frame construction house that could be sold as a kit. The project was submitted in three parts:(1) structural shell design - floor plans - joist, beam, stud design - roof truss design(2) section of the shell - choosing of material(3) furnishing of the bathroom with a under $2000 budget. - 4 elevations - 1 floor plan - 2 details - fixture choices - budget breakdown

Project DescriptionThe following is a sub-portfolio of photographs from my February 2009 trip to Spain. I visited the works of Gaudi in Barcelona, the Alhambra in Granada, Calatrava’s work in Valencia. Travel definitely broadened my world views and encour-aged me to seek beauty and ideas from architec-ture all around the world.
