1. NOODLETOOLS
NoodleTools is an online resource for citing sources, creating
works cited pages, creating notecards, outlines, and more
1. NOODLE TOOLSSIGN IN OR REGISTER
1. Go to NoodleTools (use this link, it’s our district access point)
Have an account?
Sign in to NoodleTools and update your profile
Don’t have an account? Register for one…
1. Choose “Register”
2. Complete the registration.
Suggestion: use the same login info for NoodleToolsas you use for the school computer.
Personal ID (username): four letters of last name, three of first, two-digit grad year
Password: the same password you use for the school computer or an ASB#
If by chance you get a this login screen as opposed to our district specific one, use this login information: Username: IssaquahSchools Password: Issaquah
2. CREATE NEW PROJECT IN NOODLETOOLS

1. After you register or login to NoodleTools, choose “new project.”
2. When the Create a New Project screen
that pops up, enter a name for your
project, your choice.
3. Then select “MLA” for the citation style
4. And “Junior” for the citation level
5. Click Submit.

3. From the Skyline Library homepage , choose “Databases & eBooks”
4. Go to a “KCLS” database- any that say (via KCLS):
5. Log in to the database how-to is on the bookmark yougot in class, or right here:
• your ‘Library Card Number’ is 411 followed by your ASB#
• your ‘Pin’ is the last four digits of your ASB#
6. SEARCH DATABASE FOR A TOPIC

• Search for any topic that interests you…- for this example, I used this KCLS database:
• From the results list, open any article.- click on the article title- in most databases, the article is the blue link on the results list
• Then find the citation…- for this example, the “cite” is at thetop of the page, most citations are, but some are on the sidebar or at the bottom.
7. COPY CITATION AND ADD TO YOUR NEW PROJECT IN NOODLETOOLS

• From the pop-up citation box, copy the citation
- the default citation style is usually MLA 8
like this example, but always check to
make sure
• Go back to your NoodleTools tab…
• After you created your new project, the pagelooks like this
• This is the “Dashboard” - there is a lot going on here- you just want to choose the “Sources” tab.
This will be where you add your database source…

• Choose “New Source”
• Select “Database” for citation type
• Then, choose the first option “Original Content…”
• Click on the “Quick cite: Copy & paste” link at top
• Paste your copied
database citation
and “save”

That’s it! You have created/updated a NoodleTools account,
logged into a KCLS database, found a citation, and copied the
citation into a new NoodeltTools project. Nice work!
