MITCHELLS ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOL Newsletter—Term 2, Week 4 2019 Canteen: Canteen is open tomorrow. Thanks to Nadine for operang the canteen this week. Grip Leadership: The Grip Leadership Conference is a great experience for all Yrs 5-6 students. It is a fun day of acvies designed to foster teamwork and leadership skills. Even if your child has no aspiraons of becoming a school leader, they will sll gain a lot from aending this conference. Please see Mrs Wilson if you have any quesons. Eisteddfod: The students that will compete in the Eisteddfod have done a wonderful job of learning their poems. They will present one each at the assembly on Friday to pracse in front of an audience. Teddy Bears Hospital: Yesterday, we had the medical students from the Univer- sity of Newcastle visit us for the Teddy Bears Hospital. The students learned about first aid as their teddies were examined, bandaged and x-rayed. Soccer Gala Day: The Small Schools Soccer Gala Day for Yrs 3-6 will be held on Friday 7th June at the Wingham Sporng Complex. Students need to be at the grounds by 9am. Our first game kicks off at 9:20am. Games run for 20 minutes. The draw is included in this newsleer. We have a supply of shin pads at school so please see Mrs Wilson or Miss Sneddon before Friday if you need some. Shirts and socks will be distributed on the day. Good luck to all of our players. MIPS Public Speaking: A reminder that our public speaking day is Monday starng at 9:15am. Parents/carers are welcome to come and watch. Childrens University: Permission notes for our whole school excursion to the Childrens University Taree Campus on the 25th June are aached to this newsleer. A reminder that students need to return their passports so that their hours can be verified by Mrs Wilson. Book Week: Book Week will be held in Term 3 on the 19th August. The theme this year is My Super Powers”. We are giving everyone plenty of noce so you can plan your book week parade costumes. Costumes do not need to be expensive or elaborate; exploring the Op Shops is a great way to find ideas. Y-PEP Child Protecon Educaon Program: As part of our PDHPE on child protecon, the Department has engaged the YWCA Australia as providers of the Y-PEP Child Protecon Educaon Program. Our school visit for Y-PEP is booked for the 5th June. I have aached some informaon regarding this. Newsletter—Term 2, Week 4 2019

Canteen: Canteen is open tomorrow. Thanks to Nadine

for operating the canteen this week.

Grip Leadership:

The Grip Leadership Conference is a great experience for

all Yrs 5-6 students. It is a fun day of activities designed to

foster teamwork and leadership skills. Even if your child

has no aspirations of becoming a school leader, they will

still gain a lot from attending this conference. Please see

Mrs Wilson if you have any questions.

Eisteddfod:

The students that will compete in the Eisteddfod have

done a wonderful job of learning their poems. They will

about this unit of study, please speak to Mrs Wilson.

K-2 have been studying the

artist Gustave Klimt.

K-2 have also been

learning where we

are in the world!

Today we joined in with National Simulta-

neous Story Time. This is an annual cam-

paign that aims to encourage more young

Australians to read and enjoy books.

We were joined by Maleficent the Witch

who read “Alpacas with Maracas” to our

students.

longer needed.

It has the canopy frame and curtains

with it and is in good used condition.

It has been dismantled and is available
