Our 24/7 adoration before the Blessed Sacrament continues. Many of you have chosen an hour. We want to update the list before Father Jenkins arrives so we can show him that our parish

understands the graces available by Blessed Sacrament Adoration. If you have chosen an hour please check the sheet in the main entrance of the church and say "OK" by your name or change the time to one that suits you better. If you would like to join this prayerful effort, just add your name to the list. We are so blessed to have this opportunity in our parish. Thank you. Kay Dodds

Dear Parishioners of Saint Michael, As I complete my assignment here at Saint Michael, I wanted to express to you my deep appreciation for your many kindnesses and wonderful hospitality. It has truly been a privilege and a joy to serve you these past six months. Please continue to keep me in prayer as I will continue to keep you in mine. Peace, Fr. Joe

A Personal Letter to Our St. Michael Family Hello Dear Friends, St Michael has been the faith home for my family since 1973. My husband Dennis and I were married here on September 1, 1968 and became active members when we returned to Greenfield. The purpose of my letter today is to share a piece of our family’s journey though the caregiving and living with Alzheimer’s disease. In November 2004, one month before his 57th birthday, Dennis received the diagnosis of probable Alzheimer’s disease. He had dealt silently with symptoms for at least 6 years and now denied he had anything wrong. I was in shock! He is too young! He is too healthy! Why did he, who is very intelligent and highly educated, get a disease that destroys his brain and ultimately will cause his death after years of losing his ability to function normally? I turned to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Indiana Chapter for help. Through them I received education and training as a caregiver, guidance on how to help Dennis live a fulfilling life and the support of other caregiver’s experiencing the same struggles. Our son, Dan, and I ‘tagged teamed’ his care until early 2008, when I retired to care for him full time. Our daughter, Suzanne, and her husband Paul were a constant support for us. In the spring of 2011, we placed Dennis in a memory care facility. He was in their good care until his death on November 15, 2013. Upon his death, my new purpose in life was to bring awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and all demen-tias to families who are living with these diseases. To help accomplish this goal I became a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association. As a volunteer I would also be in a position to offer hope and support to other families. St. Michael has graciously partnered with me to introduce you to the Association’s programs and services. I realize that our family is not the only one at St. Michael who has struggled with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Lewy Body, vascular dementia or one of the many others. My prayer is that no family will have to suffer for years without a diagnosis as we did. With early diagnosis, caregivers and care partners may be able to keep their loved ones in their home longer. Next Sunday, June 27-28 will be St. Michael’s Purple Sunday. Purple Sunday is a partnership between the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana and faith based organizations to bring awareness about the disease and to provide educational resources. I will be in the back of church after each Mass with materials to share and to hopefully provide answers to your questions. I will not be asking for money, only that you use this opportunity to gain information. I would also ask that you wear purple in honor of those struggling with the disease or in memory of those we have lost.

Love and prayers,

Diana Dijak
