Mise-en-scene Planning: Content

By Alysha, Nicole and Emma

Who are the models/actors for the piece? Our main actor that we have chosen for our piece is a young teenage girl who faces the common pressures of relationships therefore we will create a narrative based around that. We choose them because we thought she had the most potential and fitted the nature of the song and the artist that we want to portray considerably well compared to other auditions that took place. Furthermore she also showed a fairly quirky and different personality about her, which was similar to the artist and therefore similar to the song. We will also be including other actors within our music video who are portrayed as another couple, we will be using ‘olivia’ as we used her in our AS media work last year and she impressed us a considerable amount so we feel more than intrigued to include her again.

What costumes do you need? The costumes that we will need for our music video are very abstract and quirky, with a big fur coat to represent her personality. We will also be using other actors in our video, which will therefore be wearing also a fairly mainstream casual look, by wearing jeans, plain top and trainers.

What locations will you use? We have chosen to use an urban setting and therefore we will be filming in built up areas in their nightlife for example London or another built up town area. We also would like the artist to be filmed alone in a room therefore we can cut between the scenes to therefore have a nice contract which will therefore make the video more interesting.

Do you need any props? We wont need many props within our music video although the ones we will need will include bottles of alcohol, a small clutch bag and phones. This will therefore add to the theme of the music video we want to create, as it revolves around carelessness and roaming around the streets, being stuck in relationships etc. modern day technology and conventions will therefore need to be included.

What lighting styles will you use?The lighting styles we would like to use within our music videos will be dark and misty which reflects the nightlife of London portraying pollution and harsh lights that are common factors within town life. We will also use spot lights on the main actor when shes singing on her own so all focus will be given to her, and its also a common convention thats used in R&B/pop music which portray struggles.
