25 Year Reunion - boys’ lime Raymond Samms & Paul Wooling look on as Richard Figaro greets Nigel Wooling
On Friday 3rd July the fellas got together in Santa Cruz to get reac-quainted with each other and to catch up on old times. For some itwas 25 years worth of catching up. The liming venue was one ownedby classmate Davindra Maharaj so in a way the lime was kept ‘in thefamily’. The food was flowing, the alcohol was flowing even more,
and the ole talk was...well...you know dem fellas. And at some pointin the night Dylan Marfan, who flew in from Florida, thought he wasan acrobat and….well….let’s just say that he did not make it to theSaturday function and left Trinidad with quite a souvenir...his foot ina cast.

A banner with the reunion logo, which was designed by the lateSimon Farrell, was draped at the entrance to greet each incoming per-son. At the entrance was also a table with a sign-in book for all tosign and leave comments, some disposable cameras so that every-body could get involved and capture the night’s festivities from theirperspective, and souvenir magazines from the previous 20-yearreunion.
Areas of Tsunami were transformed somewhat into different areas ofFatima College: School Hall, Sixth Form Block, School Yard, Cafeteria,TD Room and the Teachers Lounge (one of the Tsunami gazebos). There were also pictures posted at the bar perimeter with shots fromschool days, the last reunion and also from limes that have occurredin the five years since the last reunion.
The format this time was more informal with cutters being served asopposed to the more formal sit-down dinner format of the 20 yearreunion. There was a lot more mingling amongst the guests this timealthough the teachers seemed to be having such a grand ole time inthe Teachers Lounge that they rarely emerged from there. For many ofthem it was a grand occasion as they had not seen each other inquite some time.
A significantly larger number of teachers attended this time around:Francisco Garcia, Mervyn Achille, Alloy Lee Ha, Beverly De Four, DianePersaud, Jeannete Elias (formerly Zakour), Maurice Brash, Mrs. C.
Ahwai, Kathy Ann Garcia, Myrtle Cumberbatch, Marion Hubbard,Barbara Jenkins, Glen Roach, Mervyn Moore, F. De Silva, HarryRamdass, Brendon Kuei Tung and Fr. Lennox Mc Phillip. Current act-ing Fatima Principal Father Gregory Augustine attended as well asFatima Old Boys Association President, Barry Davis.
A special thanks to those ’foreigners’ who flew in to celebrate thisspecial occasion (9 guys flew in this time as opposed to 6 the lasttime): Duane Andrews (New York), Davin Borde (Florida), StevenCheng Wing (Florida), Whitney Chin (Canada), Alan Donawa(Guyana), Richard Figaro (New York), Neil Lalsingh (Canada), DylanMarfan (Florida) and Dominic Robain (New York).
The slide show of pictures from our ole school days that was such ahit at the last reunion was reshown and it was a hit all over again.Classmates Colin Inniss and Wayne Blackman did a great job as DJsfor the night.
And not to be outdone by the last reunion, each attendee was pleas-antly surprised to be presented with a parting gift as they left: a com-memorative package which included a polo shirt, cap and mug, eachof which had the reunion logo and theme on it.
A beach lime was originally carded for Maracas Beach the next daybut because of the inclement weather plans were changed andinstead the lime was held at Pizza Boys, Maraval.

Mr. Romero!!! Were it not for his intervention (“You fellas have brains, you just playin defool, only studyin to party.”), I doubt that I would have passed any of my subjects.
