Fall/Winter Athletes:
Update 8 to 18 profile to show TRACK as current sport!
Due: Feb. 12, 2018
• A 2.0 overall GPA from Fall semester is required to participate in Spring Track & Field.
• Student-athletes with excessive absences/tardies in the Fall class may be asked to try out in the Spring.
• Student-athletes participating in Fall/Winter sports must try out in the Spring.
• Student-athletes are expected to practice Monday - Friday.
• All student-athletes are expected to stay until the END of dual meets– After the 4x400 Relay– Support teammates– Help clean up
• Most Invitationals are on Saturdays. Student-athletes must qualify in order to compete at an invitational.
Track & Field Syllabus
Grading• Grades will be posted weekly in Aeries
• Grades are based on participation– 1 point - Each day of practice attendance/participation – 4 points - Dual meets– 7 points - Mustang Relays, Mini Mustang Meet, League Prelims/Finals
• Absences are excused only with an official written doctor’s note or for school related field trips.
• Injured athletes are expected to stay for the duration of practice unless they have an official doctor’s note. This includes doctor visits and physical therapy. All injuries must be reported to athletic trainer, Tim Cooper.
• An off-grounds pass is mandatory if the athlete has to leave before 3pm.
• Make-up days are available on Saturdays with prior notification - ask Coach Russell or Calderon for availability dates.

• Drink water before, during, and after practice & meets
• Invest in a LARGE water bottle, refill it!
• Eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, & snacks– Eat a snack/dinner as soon as you get home
from practice
– Avoid spicy food and dairy close to practice time and on meet days
• Not eating enough calories or not drinking enough water can cause:– Headache, nausea, vomiting, loss of
consciousness, or worse!
Injuries
• If you are injured, tell a coach ASAP!!

• See a doctor when necessary
• Must have Tim’s and/or doctor’s clearance to return to practice
