Congratulations on becoming a Seconder! You have been chosen to be a Seconder by the Pack Leadership Team of adults and Young Leaders, this means they are trusting you to do a good job! Seconder is a very important role in our Cub Pack so please read this page carefully so that you know a bit more about what you are supposed to do. The main role of a Seconder is for you to support your Sixer and help them do their role, and to take the Sixer’s place if they are absent. For you to be a good Seconder you need to know what 4 of the main roles of a Sixer are: 1. To support their Six 2. To help the Pack Leadership Team (adults and Young Leaders) 3. To set a good example to the other Cub Scouts 4. To promote good behaviour Here are some examples of the kinds of things a Sixer is expected to do: To support your Six Help new Cubs settle in by explaining things like Grand Howl or popular games Support any Cub who is unsure about joining in or trying something new Make sure they wear their uniform properly – especially their Necker If a Cub is upset or worried then tell an adult To help the Pack Leadership Team (adults and Young Leaders) Check that your Six is all there and ready for the next activity Offer to do something helpful each week like moving chairs, clearing up, sweep the floor etc Encourage your Six to tidy up when an activity has finished If asked to do something then “do your best Take an active part in Pack Forums (so that your ideas can perhaps be part of the programme) To promote good behaviour At all times act as a good example of how a Cub should behave Attend regularly and be reliable www.northamptonshirecubscouts.org.uk
