Secretary Position
Pete thanked Kathy for her work on the Ning web site and asked if she wished to
continue as Secretary. She does not have time for the minutes and e-mail list and
stepped in to help with the initial set-up of the reorganization of the ACTP. Kathy
will continue to provide her expertise and keep the ning site updated.
Action Item:
Pete will ask for a vote to have Mary Beth replace Kathy at the next ACTP meeting.
Capital Projects Sale and Use Tax
Members discussed whether the ACTP needs to file as a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4)
organization. Ken Goad will continue to investigate and will contact attorney and
friend Andrew Marine for his advice.
The 1 cent sales tax will be fought using letters to the editor and bumper stickers.
(Update: Pete is thinking of stickers, not necessarily bumper stickers, but will
discuss with the ACTP at the next meeting before going forward).
Pete's asked the Executive Committee to review his letter to the editor about this
matter before he sends it out to the paper. The population in the city of Aiken grew
14% between 2003-2009 and city spending increased 43%.
Members discussed whether we should have television or radio interviews and it
was agreed that because the media was not on our side in this matter, we would
not hold interviews. (Update: As of 9/25, Jerry Guerin and Mike Vasovski think
interviews with reporters that Pete knows personally may be helpful).

designation for the ACTP/
Pete will write a letter to the editor on behalf of the ACTP and send to the paperafter he has input from the Exec. Committee

each. The cost to the ACTP to get the pins made is $1. Pete will buy 100 pins and
50 of them will say Tea Party Patriot and 50 will say Aiken County Tea Party
Supporter.
Pete will ask for volunteers to help at the booth at the next ACTP meeting. Kathy
said she could help on some days. The cost of sharing a booth at the fair is $215.
Bumper stickers will say: Unless we vote no, government will grow and other
bumper stickers will say Not one penny more. Vote no on November 2nd.
Business cards that say ACTP and give the web site will be developed and
distributed to members for distribution to anyone interested in joining the ATCP.
The flyer for the booth will talk about the continuation of the 1 cent sales tax

Government officials know that higher taxes are coming next year and so they're
