ITEM 4. BSC 1005L Learning Outcome Revisions – Ammons Ditto item #2 for curriculum committee submission, expected implementation Spring 2018 Discussion: NA

ITEM 5. Textbook Committee Policies (Part A) - Christensen 5A. Proposal to automatically include all professors teaching a course be placed on that course’s textbook committee. Discussion: some discussion, primarily on clarifications Action: Withdrawn from consideration 5B. Proposal to vote for chair of textbook committees. 5B Discussion: Vote to leave this decision to individual textbook committees; Timeline of one week following faculty receipt of Formal Cluster Minutes (Mid-Fall meeting) for all textbook committees to complete and finalize faculty rosters and faculty chairs by this time. If a vote is needed for a chair, the relevant textbook selection committee will vote and determine outcome by aforementioned deadline. 5B Action: Cluster Vote 25 in favor, 1 abstain. Motion approved. 5C. Proposal to finalize textbook committee member roster no later than 1 week following faculty receipt of Formal Minutes (from Mid-Fall-term Cluster meeting). 5C Discussion: some discussion on specific language for this proposal Action: Vote Unanimous. Motion approved. ITEM 6. Textbook Committee Policies (Part B) - Ammons Discussion of publisher gifts/royalties/personal support as they impact cluster’s textbook selection process. Discussion: Extensive discussion on this. Two separate cluster policy proposals voted on. Proposal 6A: Any cluster faculty receiving monetary compensation from self-authored textbooks will be required to disclose this to relevant textbook committee faculty Action: Vote Unanimous Proposal 6B: That such faculty recuse themselves from relevant textbook committees Action: Vote Unanimous

ITEM 7. Requests for PhysAssist Scribes – Cluster Chair Discussion: Clarity on what this was. Appears to be a recruiting agency marketing ads targeted at faculty. Not viewed as a problem. Action: none

ITEM 8. Textbook Buyers Policy – Cluster Chair Discussion: Regarding textbooks privately sold by faculty that have “Instructor copy – not for resale” Action: none

ITEM 9. Publisher Consulting – Cluster Chair Discussion: see #8 Action: none

ITEM 10. Faculty Turnover – Cluster Chair Discussion: regarding losses of recent faculty due to job dissatisfaction. Serious cluster concerns about hiring and retaining new faculty with a PBSC Continuing Contract process that is not faculty-friendly Action: Vote for purposes of College documentation. 25 in favor. Abstain 4. Motion approved.

ITEM 11. Super Overloads – Cluster Chair Discussion: Any teaching overloads >2 course beyond standard load (five, 3-credit classes/term). College will be looking at this more closely. Action: none

ITEM 12. UF Exploratory Programs – Cluster Chair Discussion: UF has posted a list of Gen Ed courses that are atypical for most state colleges and universities. Might examine this for inspiration for possible future Gen Ed course offerings at PBSC Action: none

ITEM 13. Special programs like environmental/horticultural programs at Jupiter HS – Cluster Chair Discussion: regarding faculty being approached by K-12 schools to teach/work in their programs Action: none
