Introduction by Robyn Tisch Hollister The art of a tarot deck is often the result of many painstaking hours of discipline, and skill. An alchemical blending of esoteric studies into symbolism, spiritual practices, and occult knowledge with hours of talent and tweaking, paint and pondering, challenges and choices to be made in order to produce a tool that works to offer insights, enhance storytelling, predict or empower...or any of the other known divinatory practices one uses the tarot for. And then, there is the Minute Deck. The deck you hold in your hands is a collection of quick doodles, that have been combined with a kind of Magic that only seems to happen when you least expect it! There were no lengthy thought processes in this decks creation. No analyzing, or worries or agonizing choices about symbolism or color choices, or numbering. It came about because I was trying to combine my love of doing art with my love of tarot. It's no secret that one of the very best ways to learn tarot is to create your own. And after many starts and stops over 15 years, I decided to do just that. A year into the project, I ran into an awful frustrating artist block, where nothing seemed to look right, and nothing worked. So one day...just for the fun of it, and because I needed something to motivate me again, I reached for my Sharpie markers, and a pre cut deck of small blank flash cards, and I just created a tarot. I gave myself 5 minutes to complete each card. Five minutes isn't enough time to think about it, but it was enough time for me to just complete a drawing, doodling fast and loose, colorful and carefree.

In two hours I had completed an entire Major Arcana! And it felt so good! I was able to get through a block and get out of my own way...and in the process I learned what symbols of the tarot were important for me and what didn't matter. I didn't quite expect the glowing and positive reaction they received! I took up the challenge, and with encouragement from my friends I spent the next day (and another five minutes per card) completing the rest of the deck. That's when the magic happened. My little doodle deck was a hit, and people I didn't even know suddenly clamored for a copy! And even more fantastic was the number of artists and tarot enthusiasts who inspired by my efforts, decided to try and create their very own personal decks! I love that something so simple and so fast could inspire people. I also found that the deck, perhaps due to the quickness of its creation, offered up great and quick readings. The illustrations have a kinetic kind of energy that seems to be action oriented. A few times I have read with them, I could swear the drawings actually moved before my eyes! It took a couple of years to sell out of the original 100 I made for the limited self published edition. Sometimes it seemed to take more time to print and hand cut a single deck than it did to draw the Major Arcana. Then Leisa, from Tarot Connection, came along with her own magic wand, and created this new edition so that everyone could enjoy this quick and quirky deck once again! And this time around, there are rounded corners and real backs, and the bonus of being able to really shuffle them! A big Thank You goes out to YOU... whether you are a beginner, a professional reader, a collector, or simply a lover of tarot. Thank you for supporting this artist, and her little doodle endeavor. You are also part of the Magic. ~Robyn Tisch Hollister March 2010
Reading With the Minute Deck I offer these keywords, rather than full interpretations. If you wish to know more about the meanings behind the cards, then please visit the Aeclectic Tarot Forum www.tarotforum.net or pick up any of the hundreds of wonderful and informative books on the subject. A deck created so quickly seemed to respond to quick Minute meanings. These keywords can spark one's intuition and trigger a whole host of other meanings. They also give the Minute Tarot an extra engagement as a quick oracle. Occasionally you can do a reading with the Minute by simply pulling enough cards to string the keywords together into a cohesive thought or sentence.

Quick Minute Deck Spreads
What You Need Spread
Shuffle the deck, until you are comfortable, then cut the cards. Take the top three and lay them out in a line.
1. What You Need to Know This card indicates what it is you need to know about the situation at hand. What is hidden? What is not readily apparent? 2. What You Need to Do This card indicates what actions need to be taken to improve your situation. What is it that you need to do? 3. What You Need to Remember This card indicates those things that are important but may have been forgotten. What should you be focusing on, or observing?
Minute Snapshot Spread
A quick overview of your life right now. Can also be used pertaining to a specific matter.
• Card one: What are you Thinking? • Card two: What are you Feeling? • Card three: What are you Doing?
(Sometimes this deck likes to take this moment to admonish you. yeah...just what WERE you THINKING??)

The Minute Basics Spread Shuffle the Minute deck and cut into Four piles. Take each pile in hand and count out the cards as you spell the letters to the word you wish to have insight on. The last card of the word is the card that gets turned over and read.
• Pile One: W O R K • Pile Two: P L A Y • Pile Three: L O V E • Pile Four: H E A L T H
Changing the basic words can give you more in depth readings. For instance, if you wish to know about a specific friend or lover, instead of counting out the letters of the word Love, count out their name. If you have a specific health issue of body part you want more insight on, than substitute that word for health.
The Bus Schedule
A great basic spread for general readings.
• Card One: (Point A) Where you are • Card Two: (Point B) Where you are going • Card Three: How do you get there (From Point A to Point B)
Minute Conversation Separate the Majors and the Minors into two piles. Take one Major card and combine with Minor card. Read the keywords together to interpret meaning. Add more from the Minors pile for clarification.
