A mandatory pre-bid is November 3rd @ 11:00 AM in the ISELF Bldg. Room 110 for the Audio Visual Multi-Function Classroom Scope: Overall Description This system is a multi-function room. There are 2 ceiling mounted projectors, and 5- 90” wall mounted displays with hi-resolution touch overlays. Each display is to be feed from an SVSI 2K series decoder. There will be a single instructor’s station in the middle of the room. There is an in-floor j-box in place and has some CAT-6 cabling already installed that can be used for this project. There is an equipment rack in the adjacent communication closet that has been installed and will be used to house the equipment for this project. The focal point of this project will be the 5 large LCD monitors at the front of the room. This is where the majority of the class material will be displayed. Instructor Station Requirements The instructor’s station will house a Wacom CINTIQ22 (OFE), a routable confidence monitor, a Crestron TSW-1050 touchscreen, and AV inputs for 2 laptop connectivity. Included in this design will be at minimum a 6ft x 2ft work space at the station to hold all of the instructor’s classroom items. This can be accomplished in a couple different ways.

1. A main surface and side shelves 2. One solid top that meets the dimensions from above.

Page 2: MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES ST. CLOUD STATE UNIVERSITY · phone interface to the audio system. Video conferencing . Cisco Codec either the C-Series or the Sx80 . All

There will be at minimum (2) 15 amp power outlets installed in the working surface mentioned above. These will be for users to power BYOD devices Input Sources The sources will be the following:

1. Main source Single PC (OFE) with multiple video output cards.

2. Laptop source 1 (auto selecting) a. HDMI connection

i. The HDMI cable will have a Liberty DL-AR adapter ring attached to it.

ii. The laptop HDMI cable will need to be red in color.

b. VGA (HD-15) connection with analog audio i. This will be scaled to HDMI at the instructor

station

3. Laptop source 2 (auto selecting) a. HDMI connection

i. The HDMI cable will have a Liberty DL-AR adapter ring attached to it.

ii. The laptop HDMI cable will need to be red in color.

b. VGA (HD-15) connection with analog audio i. This will be scaled to HDMI at the instructor

station.

4. Doc Cam Source a. Ceiling mounted Wolfvision VZ-C32 camera. The Doc

Cam will be controlled by the Crestron control processor. At minimum the touch panel will have buttons for zoom, focus, and power control. This source will be powered up when the room is turned on and will power down when the room is shut down.

5. Camera Source a. 2 Vaddio PTZ cameras mounted on the south ceiling.

These cameras are for lecture capture and need accommodate the following:

i. Wide enough field of view to zoom in on the front screens and still have at least half of the front monitors in the field of view.

ii. Internal preset for use with pressure pad installation

b. Since this room will use the cameras for purposes other than just video conferencing the camera locations are important. The cameras will be mounted from the ceiling.

c. 6 Pressure pads to control the cameras presets. Each

Page 3: MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES ST. CLOUD STATE UNIVERSITY · phone interface to the audio system. Video conferencing . Cisco Codec either the C-Series or the Sx80 . All

monitor has its own pressure pad to trigger the camera to track the instructor’s position. One will be located near the instructor station. This one will trigger the camera to focus on the instructor.

6. Source switching a. The pressure pads will also trigger switching into the

presentation input of the codec. Since each monitor is a source when the instructor is standing in front of the monitor the feed to the codec will be the same feed as that monitor.

b. The pressure pads will also switch the camera input on the codec. Depending on what side of the room the instructor is on will drive what camera is actively showing the instructor. When the instructor activates the camera change the focus in the codec should follow.

Monitors & Projectors The existing ceiling mounted Sony VPL-FH-30 projectors (OFE) will be re-hung by the contractor and face east and west. They will project on 2 Dalite 65” x 113” diagonal fixed frame screens. These screens are to be centered horizontally on the walls. Additionally, the screens must be hung from the ceiling and cannot be mounted to the walls. One of the walls were built as demountable, and therefore can’t have anything attached to it. The main focus of the room are the (5) 90” LCD wall mounted displays. These are to have a hi-resolution touch overlay. The touch information is to be extended via the SVSI decoders to the main PC. The main PC will display a single, very large desktop, on the 5 displays. Communications Closet There is a Middle Atlantic 44ru rack in the closet for this room. It currently has the existing equipment for room 110 which will be removed. It also has a small amount of other AV equipment, which will stay. There will be a rack mounted Crestron TSW-1050 touchscreen in the equipment rack for routing and system control. There will also be a rack mounted 17” LCD monitor with an SVSI Decoder for monitoring purposes. This rack will also house the audio server and Ethernet switch for the SVSI network. Audio Currently, installed in this rooms are 4 in-ceiling Extron Flat field speakers (OFE). These are to be re-used. However, a separate power amplifier is to be provided by the contractor. This amplifier is to be sufficient enough to suit the room when filled to capacity.

1. Microphones a. The audio system will include a sufficient number of

fixed microphones to cover the room. Since the ceiling is low, hanging microphones are not an option.

b. The focus will be on instruction not on in class

conversation. So the mic placement should consider that. The mics should be focused on the front with the secondary task of covering the audience.

2. There will need to be at least 2 wireless mics (either Lapel Shure ULXP M1 or countryman style).

3. Audio Processor a. This option should include a central Biamp Audio

processor, Tesira or Forte series. This will be connected to all available audio sources. It will also connect to any peripheral audio input device. Including, but not limited to the PC, Codec and speakers. There will also be a VOIP phone interface to the audio system.

Video conferencing Cisco Codec either the C-Series or the Sx80 All codec Inputs and outputs routed through SVSI encoders(2) and decoders(2) Camera tracking and presets Dialing / Directory Control There will be a Crestron AV3 control processor (OFE) available for this project and be housed in the communication closet adjacent to the room. All signal routing will be done via the Crestron touchscreen and will control the SVSI transmission system. Included in the program will be presets that will recall different routing configurations. Crestron control/GUI configuration: The GUI needs to be designed for ease of use. The GUI will need to be approved by the SCSU AV team and the SCSU usability expert.

1. St Cloud State will provide a sample GUI file for you to use. This will be used as the basis for the design. This touch panel doesn’t need to be copied, but can be used for the basic design. With this we can keep continuity with the rest of campus.

selected 3. Warm up page/cooling page

a. This will show the time remaining for the system to power up/shutdown

4. Main start page a. This will be a touch to begin page. This will allow a user

to turn on the system by either selecting a source or pressing on the page.

5. Source selection page a. This will allow the user to main source switching. b. When the cameras are selected a camera control will pop

up and allow the user to pan/tilt/zoom the camera. As well as, recall the saved presets.
