GREETING and ANNOUNCEMENTS
PRELUDE
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: God is calling. Do you not hear? You are being called by name, for a purpose. All: God, you have searched us and know us. You discern our thoughts from far away. Leader: Do not confuse the siren calls of the world for God’s call. Do not confuse the values of this world for God’s values. All: You know, O God, when we sit and when we stand. You know when we lie down and where we go. Leader: Your words and your deeds are known to God. You were known to God before you were born. All: Your knowledge of us is more than we can understand. Your thoughts embrace us amid all you have created.
*HYMN OF PRAISE “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise” #33
MORNING PRAYER
We have come together, listening God, because you have spoken your word of summons and welcome. We are drawn irresistibly to the promise of your presence and by the persistence of your call. Speak to your servants here in ways we can understand. We want to hear the message you intend for us. We want to listen, not because someone else needs to have it told to them, but because we ourselves are needy sinners. Your expectations of us are high and holy. We tremble before you, eager for the heavens to be opened in our midst for our transformation. Amen.

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise #33
Verse 1 Immortal invisible God only wise In light inaccessible
Hid from our eyes Most blessed most glorious
The Ancient of Days Almighty victorious
Thy great name we praise
Verse 2 Unresting unhasting And silent as light
Nor wanting nor wasting Thou rulest in might
Thy justice like mountains High soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains Of goodness and love
Verse 3 To all life thou givest To both great and small
In all life thou livest The true life of all
We blossom and flourish As leaves on the tree
And wither and perish But naught changeth thee
Verse 4 Great Father of glory Pure Father of light
Thine angels adore thee All veiling their sight
All praise we would render O help us to see
'Tis only the splendor Of light hideth thee
Amen

Verse 1

For the Son of Thy love
For Jesus who died
And is now gone above
Verse 2

For Thy Spirit of light
Who has shown us our Savior
And scattered our night
Verse 3
All glory and praise
To the Lamb that was slain
Who has borne all our sins
And has cleansed every stain
Verse 4
Revive us again
Fill each heart with Thy love
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above

John 1:43-51 (NRSV)
Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him,
“Follow me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and
Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about
whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from
Nazareth.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of
Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47 When Jesus saw Nathanael
coming toward him, he said of him, “Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is
no deceit!” 48 Nathanael asked him, “Where did you get to know me?” Jesus
answered, “I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.” 49 Nathanael
replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” 50
Jesus
answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?
You will see greater things than these.” 51
And he said to him, “Very truly, I tell you,
[a] you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending
upon the Son of Man.”

Psalm 139:1-6
The Inescapable God
To the leader. Of David. A Psalm.
1 O LORD, you have searched me and known me. 2 You
know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern
my thoughts from far away.
3 You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my
ways. 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, O LORD, you know it completely.
5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it.
Psalm 139:13-18
13 For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my
mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. 15 My frame was not
hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the
depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes beheld my unformed substance.
In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of
them as yet existed. 17 How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God! How
vast is the sum of them! 18 I try to count them—they are more than the sand; I
come to the end[a]—I am still with you.
Volunteers for “Meals on Wheels” -- Can You Help?
From February 1-26, 2021, our church is responsible for providing volunteers to deliver noon meals to elderly homebound residents in Fort Atkinson. There are two “Meals on Wheels” routes in the city, with delivery of each taking about one hour. The meals are picked up at 11:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. It is helpful to have two volunteers for each route: one to drive, and the other to follow the schedule and read the “Driving Directions.”
Please check your calendars and if you can help, please call Mary Ellen Miller @ 920-563-9085. If you can only help one or two days, or perhaps a whole week – whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your consideration to serve others.
