1 Cut a 84" lengths of wovens. Cut in half on the long fold so you have 2 pieces that are 21" x 84". Once cut - snip about 1" into the long edge and tear so you have a straight of grain edge on the short side. Repeat with the other end. Now you have approximately a 21" x 82" piece of fabric that has straight of grain on the short sides. Save other half of fabric for 2nd scarf.

2 Cut a 21/2" snip up from the short side of the fabric 1/8" away from the selvage. This will leave you with a 21/2" rat tail of selvage. Now you can unravel threads on the short side up until the cut mark. You will have 21/2" of fringe on one short side. Use a pin to pull one thread at a time.

3 Once you have your threads unraveled you can stay stitch between the fabric and fringe or you can tie square knots in the fringe every 10 or so threads. Repeat for the other short end of the scarf.

4 Now that you have your fringe stabilized, either serge the long raw edge or turn under twice - 1/8" and sew in place.
