1 INTRODUCTION

This leaflet is given with the machine and shall be kept in order to be easily read at any time by the end user. Please have a copy of the leaflet done at your disposal. A “Declaration of Conformity” is also given with the machine which confirms that the machine has been manufactured in conformity with the laws relevant to the construction of agricultural machines and shall be shown at any request. The “Registration Number” of the machine is also written on the “Declaration of Conformity”. At the delivery of the machine, please make sure that the “Registration Number” of the machine is the same of the one written on the “Declaration of Conformity”. If they are not the same, please immediately call the reseller for the necessary controls. TIERRE’ Company congratulates for your choice. When you work with the machine, you will be able to make sure of all the qualities of the machine and its duration. In order to correctly use the machine, please carefully read this leaflet; a good knowledge of the machine assures its correct use, its long duration, its good performance and the safety for persons and goods. If you have any doubt, please contact your re-seller who will give you all necessary advice and a correct assistance in the shortest time. Your shredder has been manufactured to be used in the agricultural field, that is its correct use.

ATTENTION ! A different use of the shredder would not be correct and would not be safe for the user’s life. A different use of the shredder causes the lost of the guarantee. A correct use means the observation of the use and maintenance rules given by the constructor in this leaflet. Only skilled and authorised people, who know all the possible risks, can use, repair and maintain the machine.

You should absolutely respect the instructions relevant to the preventions risks or any other general instruction, the rules relevant to the traffic, to safety and to hygiene. Never modify the machine without asking advice to skilled people. TIERRE’s would decline any responsibility in case of damages and the right of guarantee would automatically be lost.

ATTENTION ! TIERRE has the right to stop the production of its models or to change some of their characteristics at any time and without giving advice to the Customers. Moreover the new characteristics would not be put on old models.

2 DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE

ATTENTION!

If the machine is delivered packed, the parts of the package shall not be left where unskilled people are or where possible hazardous areas are. Collect the parts of the package in the appropriate areas.

The shredder Mini-Garden mainly consists of a steel frame which is the support for all the other components of the machine; it is designed to guarantee a perfect chopping of the product without having to use big powers and respecting the safety rules in force. The connection supports to the tractor are fixed to the frame.

Inside the main body there is a rotor with two high resistance bearings working through transmission belts which take their motion from the gears. The rotor is dynamically balanced to turn without vibrations. The number of blades or hammers of the rotor guarantee a perfect chopping and a good ventilation.

When delivered, the shredder mod. “Mini Garden” is like in Fig. 1 and it is designed to be connected to the rear of the tractor. The tractor shall be equipped with a rear hydraulic UNIVERSAL 3 points raising device of the 1

st category, suitable to the weight and power

of the shredder Mini Garden. The 3 point raising group is shown in Fig. 2.

3 GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

It is compulsory to read carefully this leaflet in order to avoid dangerous situations. 1) Besides reading the instructions written into this

leaflet, it is necessary to follow the general instructions relevant to the safety of the users of the agricultural machines applicable in the country of use.

2) Follow the instructions given by the stickers on

the machine, especially the ones regarding safety rules.

3) Engage the machine only if it is put down on the

round in working position. 4) Never exceed the rotation allowed by the power

take off (540 RPM). 5) Fasten the PTO shaft protection by means of the

small chains in order to avoid undesired rotation. 6) Lower the machine onto the round before start

working. Please make sure that nobody is in the working area of the machine.

7) Make sure that all the safety devices are

correctly assembled and efficient before start working.

8) It is forbidden that persons or animals are close

the machine when it is working. 9) Before any maintenance of the machine, please

make sure that the rotating parts are still, the tractor is stopped and that the key of the tractor are taken off.

10) During the road transport, please respect the

Highway Code rules. 11) Usare particolare prudenza durante le operazioni

take off the key, lower the machine onto the ground.

13) Before connecting or disconnecting the machine

from the 3 point device, block the hydraulic raising control devices of the tractor to avoid its undesired starting and the shredder to be moved.

14) Check the maximum weight allowed by the 3

point. 15) Assembly or disassembly the PTO shaft only

when the power is off and the engine key is taken off.

16) Before switching on the power take off, make

sure that the speed and the rotation way of the power take off of the tractor are suitable with the ones of the shredder.

17) Never connect the power take off when the

engine is running. 18) Before connecting the power take off, please

make sure that nobody is close to the working area or closet o the power take off.

19) Before approaching the machine, please make

sure that it is completely still and that the engine of the tractor is switched off, the power take off is disconnected and the break is on.

20) Periodically check the correct tightening of

screws and nuts and in case please tighten. 21) During maintenance with the raised machine,

make sure that it is safety fixed by means of the suitable supports. If you need repairs, please ask to the authorised workshops.

22) Please get rid of oils and lubricants respecting

the laws which protect environments.

ATTENTION!

The shredders Mod. Mini –Garden have been designed and manufactured to work in accordance with the instruction of the manufacturer and within the scope of this leaflet. TIERRE’s declines any responsibility if damages to people or goods are caused by not proper use of the machine.

5 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - STICKERS AND WARNINGS

The stickers on the shredder are part of the machine! The damaged or not readable stickers shall be required to the manufacturer and shall be immediately changed. The manufacturer declines any responsibility about damages caused by the not observance of the safety and prevention rules written in this leaflet.

ATTENTION!

The stickers and the plates with the warnings are part of the machine.

Description of the meaning of the stickers in Fig. 9 which are positioned on the machine in Fig. 8: 1) Before using the machine it is compulsory to read

this use and maintenance leaflet and the safety rules. If you loose the leaflet, please require a copy to the re-seller or to the manufacturer.

2) It is compulsory to protect the eyes during the

working of the machine. Danger to become blind. 3) It is compulsory to take off the key of the tractor

before doing any work with the shredder. 4) Noise area with noise level higher than 90 dB(A),

it is compulsory to wear ear protections. 5) Observe the safety distance from the moving

parts of the machine. There is the danger of being caught or being hanged. Please, wear always suitable cloths which are adherent to the body. Avoid necklaces, scarves, ties or any other cloth which have hanging parts.

Description of the meaning of the stickers of Fig. 11 as attached on the machine in Fig. 10: 7) It is forbidden to touch the moving parts. Observe

the safety distance and wait for the machine is still.

8) While the machine is working, please observe

the safety distance and do not allow that unauthorised people approach the machine. The safety distance is 50m.

9) Do not use hands to operate when the machine

is working. Wait till when the machine is completely still.

10) Please check that the maximum speed of the

P.T.O. of the tractor is suitable with the working speed of the shredder. Check the RPM on the sticker.

11) Warnings equal to the position 6 of Fig. 8.

5 UNLOADING AND UNPACKING

The unloading of the shredder shall be done very carefully by skilled and authorised people to avoid damages to the machine and injures to the operators or to people, animals or goods (see Fig. 11). The package of the machine shall be collected and delivered to suitable collecting points as per the applicable laws.

ATTENTION!

Make sure that during loading and unloading operations and movement of the machine nobody is close the working area of the machine.

ATTENTION!

Check the loading capability of the raising devices with the weight of the machine. The weight is written on the identification plate of the machine (see page 5).

ATTENTION!

The transport devices shall allow a correct position of the shredders which shall have the load basement placed on the round and shall not be over packed. An incorrect transport could cause the damage of the machine structure.

6 INSTALLATION OF THE MACHINE

7.1 Connection to the tractor As the connecting arms of the tractor have a different length from one to the other, it is necessary to determine the adequate position by lengthening or shortening the upper connecting 3 point arm of the tractor (Fig. 12) and if necessary shorten the shaft following the instruction of page 12. The connection between the shredder and the tractor shall be done as in Fig. 12. The shredders mod. Mini Garden could be connected with the tractors which have an “UNIVERSAL” 3 point connection of category 1.

ATTENTION!

Be careful not to stay between the tractor and the shredder during the

operation of connection and disconnection.

Danger of being smashed.

1) Put close the arms of the raising device and

insert them inside the connections of the shredder (see points “A” and “B”).

2) Insert the arms in the pins of the tractor and block them with the suitable keys.

3) Insert the P.T.O. shaft and check that it is blocked.

4) Block the arms of the raising device with the suitable chains and belts.

5) Connect the third point “C” of the raising device and check that the shredder is parallel to the round as written in paragraph 8.1.2.

6) Check that the tractor has the sufficient power for a good control and a good working of the shredder.

7.2 Adjustment of the P.T.O. shaft The P.T.O. shaft of the shredder has a standard length; the length of the shaft shall be adjusted to the tractor to which is connected. This operation shall be done by the authorised workshops. 1) Divide the two halves of the shaft; connect one

half to the P.T.O. of the tractor and the other half to the P.T.O. of the shredder. Raise and lower the hydraulic raising device and find the minimum running length (Fig. 13/A) and sign it on the shaft.

2) Cut the exceeding length plus 30mm of the

external plastic pipe and also the internal pipe. Re-assembly and be careful that the connection forks are coplanar.

3) Operate the raising device and check that the

P.T.O. shaft easily runs and that a minimum running length of 100 mm is available.

4) ATTENTION! Please check the length of the

P.T.O. shaft any time you change the tractor! 5) The end of the shaft with a torque reducer or a

free wheel shall be assembled with the tractor take off.

6) The maximum angle of the shaft is 15° (see Fig.

13/F). 7) Please connect the small chains delivered with

the shaft (see Fig. 13/F) to avoid the rotation of the protective parts.

8) Lubricate the shaft following the instruction of the

manufacturer, which are delivered with the shaft.

7.3 Transport During the transport and anytime it is necessary to raise the shredder, please make that the shredder is transported over the round about 30 cm, as described in Fig. 14.

ATTENTION!

Close to the 3 point connection there is ranger to be injured or smashed!

ATTENTION!

Before raising the shredder, please for the moving parts become still.

ATTENTION!

During the transport of the shredder, disconnect the shaft.

ATTENTION!

Before starting to transport the shredder on the highways, please check that the dimensions of the shredder are conforming to the Highway Code rules.

8 USING RULES OF THE SHREDDER When you apply the shredder to a tractor, the weight on the axis is no more balanced. The balance of the weight is advisable and it is suggested to add weight on the front of the tractor, as shown in Fig. 15.

Before start working with the shredder, please check the following points: A. Block the P.T.O. shaft by means of the chain as

shown in Fig. 13/E; B. Check that the shredder leans on the ground and

parallel to it; C. Check all the safety devices; D. Check that nobody is close the working area of

the machine; Start the shredder slowly increasing the number of rotations of the shaft to 450 and 500 RPM.

ATTENTION!

The shredder could be operated only by means of the P.T.O. shaft complete with the necessary overload protections and the outside protection blocked with the chain.

8.1 Position of the machine as to the ground

ATTENTION!

Before any maintenance and repair working of the shredder, put the shredder onto the round, switch off the engine, take off the key and use the handbrake.

Before start working, check the position of the blades to the ground. If they touch the ground, raise them by means of the levelling roller and support. 8.1.1 Adjusting of the roller Adjust the position of the roller in a way that the blades and hammers do not exit out of the side of the frame to avoid that they enter the ground.

To ad just the roller, proceed as per the following instruction and as shown in Fig. 17: 1) Unscrew the screws of the scraper and loose the

screws pos. “A”; 2) Loose the screws pos. “B” and remove the

screws pos. “C”; 3) Move the support in the best position, insert

again the screws “C” and carefully tighten the screws and nuts “B” and “C”;

4) Ad just the scraper to be closet o the roller and tighten the screws “A”;

5) Repeat the check and replace the position of the shredder parallel to the round.

Check that the machine is in the correct position as per Fig. 18.

ATTENTION!

The blades and the hammers shall never touch the ground!

8.1.2 Adjustment of the 3 P

Check always that the shredder is parallel to the round to improve chopping. The adjustment shall be done by means of the 3

rd

point of connection between the shredder and the tractor, as shown in Fig. 19. In Fig. 19 it is also shown the shredder in the position parallel to the round.

8.1.3 Working position of the machine The shredder shall be adjusted to be positioned as shown in Fig. 20. The adjustment shall be done by means of the two bars of the 1st and 2nd points of the tractor (see Fig. 20 points A and B).

8.1.4 Start working with the shredder

ATTENTION!

The machine could be dangerous. To avoid dangerous situations, please operate carefully after having read all the safety rules written in this leaflet.

After having done all the adjustments to connect the shredder and the tractor and to obtain the correct position of the machine, please make sure to observe the following: 1) Do not work with the shredder if you are tired;

your attention and reflexes could be reduced. 2) Make sure that no unauthorised people and

animals are around the machine before start working.

3) Make all the operation of adjustment after the

power take off is disconnected, the engine is off, the shredder lies on the ground and the tractor is completely still; insert the handbrake before leaving the tractor.

4) It is compulsory to read all the safety rules and

the use rules of the shredder. 5) In case of doubt about how to use the shredder,

it is compulsory to ask the manufacturer or the re-seller to get instructions.

ATTENTION!

During the work with the shredder, please do not exceed the speed of 10 Km/h

9 USUAL MAINTENANCE The usual maintenance is necessary for the good efficiency and the correct working of the machine.

ATTENTION!

During maintenance, please observe the following instruction: 1) Disconnect the power take

off; 2) Switch off the engine of the

tractor; 3) Put the shredder on the

ground; 4) In no case stand close the

shredder while it works

A. AFTER MORE OR LESS 80 HOURS

Check the oil level (see point E Fig. 21) and add oil to the required level, if necessary in point D. Change the oil after the first 160 working hours. After that, change the oil any 400 working hours. The discharge point of oil tank is under the box (see point F). Use only lubricants indicated in the Table of Lubricants page 16.

B. AFTER MORE OR LESS 20 HOURS

Grease the supports of the roller and rotor of the shredder through the greasing injection points D/E of Fig. 21).

C. EVERY 100 HOURS

Make the shredder to be checked at the authorised workshops to verify the integrity of the machine and of the safety protections.

9.1 Adjustment of the belts

The belts shall be checked and adjusted after the first 5 working hours. Check the belts after every 50 working hours. Avoid the substitution of only one belt: it could cause a lack of tension of the belts.

ATTENTION!

The engine of the tractor shall be off, the power take off shall be disconnected, the handbrake shall be on and the key shall be taken off during the check and substitution of the belts. It is compulsory to follow the instruction.

Please observe the following instructions to change and adjust the belts: 1) Remove the protection cover (carter) of the belts. 2) Loosen the fixing screws A and B of the gear and

then loosen the nut C (see Fig. 22).

3) Lower the gear to the lowest position and remove

the belts. 4) Install the new belts and adjust the belt tension

by slowly tightening the adjusting nut; check the belt tension; if the adjustment is correct, when you press the centre with a force of 4 kg, a movement of 6mm shall occur (see Fig. 22).

5) Tighten the screws and the nuts of the transmission gear while the axis is parallel to the frame of the shredder.

6) Assembly again the belt protecting cover (carter).

9.2 Replacement of blades and hammers Every 100 working hours, check the good performance of blades and hammers and the relevant blocking screws. In case some blades and hammers are missing or are broken or are ruined, please change all of them. If you change only some of them, the others could cause that the rotor is unbalanced and undesired vibrations occur. The vibrations damage the rotor and the shredder. It is also important to verify the screws, if they are damaged it is compulsory to substitute them with original TIERRE’s screws.

ATTENTION!

Do not substitute blades or hammers when the shredder is raised with the tractor; it is extremely dangerous for your and other people’s safety.

IT IS COMPULSORY TO USE BLADES AND HAMMERS, SCREWS AND NUTS WHICH ARE TIERRE’s ORIGINAL SPARE PARTS. When you change the blades or the hammers, please observe the following: 1) Disconnect the shredder from the tractor. 2) Rotate the shredder as shown in Fig. 23, on a

plain round by means of suitable raising devices to assure a safe movement of the shredder and a safe substitution of blades and hammers.

3) Substitute the blades and the hammers as shown

in Fig. 24 and carefully tighten the screws and the nuts.

4) When the change of blades and hammers is

finished, carefully lower the machine to avoid the ranger of smashing.
