MINERAL WOOL PIPE INSULATION
HEAT UP SCHEDULE
The binder used in the pipe-sections is organic, and we
recommend the heat-up procedure below for insulation
with operating temperatures from 350F to 1200F.
During commissioning, the inner part of the resin
material will start a controlled decomposition when
the internal temperature of the insulation exceeds
480F (250C). Provide adequate ventilation to prevent
build-up of gases.
DESCRIPTION
Mineral Wool Pipe Insulation is a precision cut pipe
covering composed of high density mineral wool. It is
produced in the form of two half cylinders and can be
supplied either plain, with an all service jacket (ASJ) or
with a foil scrim kraft (FSK) type facing. Mineral wool pipe
insulation is available in three foot lengths in sizes from
1/2" IPS through 20" IPS and wall thicknesses from 1" to
4". Sizes over 20" IPS are available in curved segments.
USES
Mineral Wool Pipe Insulation can be used in a wide
range of applications for hot and cold piping ranging
from -120 to 1200F (-50 to 650C) making it
ideal for use within:
High temperature industrial process plants, power
stations, petrochemical complexes, etc. for steam and
process pipework
Commercial hot/cold water
Refrigerated water and similar areas
ADVANTAGES
Easy Fabrication - Only a knife needed for the most
intricate shapes.
Good Compressive Strength - Mineral Wool resists
compression and mechanical damage.
