Agency Name: The Association of People with Disability (APD)

• Objective: Identify, assess, and provide mobility aids to

132 poor rural children with disabilities for significant qualitative improvements on mobility and functional needs.

• Duration: 9 Months

• Cost: 10 Lakhs INR

• Mode of spend: Fund, Mindtree Volunteers, Technology

Project Outcome

• Distributed mobility aids and wheel chairs to 130children with disabilities in Vijapura, Davangere, and

Mysuru districts. Provided accessibility in home for 2children in Vijapura.

• Children's independence factor has improved by a factor of

1.4 out of 5• Rs. 74,028 out of 10 Lakhs is surplus with APD.

2. Community Based Rehabilitation – Disability Inclusive Development (CBR-DID-1)Strategy• CSR Focus: Promoting Education [Sec-135, Sch-7 (ii)]

• Location: Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu

Agency Name: Spastics Society of Tamilnadu (SPASTN)

• Objective: Identify, assess, and treat 300 rural people with disabilities. Also provide Early intervention for children, Rehabilitation programs, Home based training, Need-based Assistive Services, Capacity building, Livelihood and Non-formal education to them.

• Duration: 12 Months

• Cost: 10 Lakhs INR

• Mode of spend: Fund, Mindtree Volunteers, Technology

Status

• Awareness programs were conducted that benefitted 201people; 180 children are benefitted in regular interventions; 24 children are benefitted through home based interventions.

3. Bal RoshiniStrategy• CSR Focus: Promoting Education [Sec-135, Sch-7 (ii)]

• Criteria for focus area:

• Beneficiaries: Rural Children with Disabilities

• Location: Rural Bengaluru District, Karnataka

Agency Name: Karnataka State Council For Child Welfare (K.S.C.C.W)

• Objective: Identify, assess, and provide education and / or

corrective surgeries to 60 poor rural children with disabilities.

• Duration: 12 Months

• Cost: 7.15 Lakhs INR

• Mode of spend: Fund, Computers

Status

• 3 children out of 4 went through corrective surgeries shown significant improvement.

• 2 children out 3 are provided with mobility, hearing, and visual aids shown great improvement. One more child is given a hearing aid

• All 60 children are supported with a scholarship of Rs.

5000 per year for their education.

4. Kanavu PattaraiStrategy• CSR Focus: Promoting Education [Sec-135, Sch-7 (ii)]

• Beneficiaries: Urban vulnerable poor Corporate School Children

• Location: Chennai, Tamilnadu

• Objective: 375 urban school children will be taught different art and crafts practices, personality development training to improve their standard of living.

• Duration: 12 Months

• Cost: 8.8 Lakhs INR

Status• Thirteen camps were conducted covering 325 children so

far.

5. Yuva JyotiStrategy• CSR Focus: Promoting vocational skills [Sec-135, Sch-7

(ii)]

• Criteria for focus area:

Create sustainable livelihood opportunities

• Beneficiaries: Underprivileged rural youths

• Location: Bychapura, Hollavanahalli Hobli, Koratakagere Taluk, Tumakuru District, Karnataka

Project Details• Implementing

Agency Name: BEEM Rural Development Organization (BRDO)

• Objective: 200 underprivileged rural youths trained

from 50 villages in Tailoring, Computer Education, Data Entry, Electrical Wiring, Motor rewinding, Carpentry, and Plumbing.

• Duration: 14 Months

• Cost: 16.4 Lakhs INR

• Mode of spend: Fund

Status• Batch-1 (150 students) training is completed by 15-Jan-

2015. Batch-II (60 students) started on 16-Jan-2015.• 80 trainees from Batch-I are going to take up their self

employment and rest of them i.e., 70 trainees will be placed in the private establishments like Kanva Garments, Raymonds, Ranjith Developers, BPOs etc. Our organization is negotiating with these establishments with regard to the salary and other fringe benefits.

6. Lab-on-a-BikeStrategy• CSR Focus: Promoting Education [Sec-135, Sch-7 (ii)]

To promote education to underprivileged children

• Beneficiaries: Underprivileged rural school children

• Location: Pogoan, Marungi, and Bhugoan in Pune, Maharashtra

Agency Name: Agastya International Foundation

• Objective: Create awareness about hands-on way of learning Science and to spark curiosity among

1600 rural school children through practical hands-on scientific experiments to increase their awareness and creativity.

• Duration: 10 Months

• Cost: 5.6 Lakhs INR

Status

This project is run in 19 rural Government schools from Pogoan, Marungi, and Bhugoan villages near Pune. The first round (out of 10 rounds) of Science experimentations with Lab-in-Box is on going in these 19 schools.

7. UdaanStrategy• CSR Focus: Promoting Education [Sec-135, Sch-7 (ii)]

• Location: Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagara District, Karnataka

Project Details• Implementing

Agency Name: Narayana Health, Sikshana Foundation

• Objective: Identify, assess, and train the rural children in Science education from their High School. NH will train and counsel these children to get through Medical Entrance exams and create doctors for the rural India.

• Duration: 9 Years

• Cost: Rs. 16.02 Lakhs (for the year 2014-15)

• Mode of spend: Fund, Mindtree Volunteers

Status

1462 children from 38 schools in Kanakapura Taluk,

Tattanur, and Channapatna Karnataka participated and 52children have been shortlisted for this scholarship program. The Udaan project was successfully launched on 12-Dec-2014. 52 students were awarded Udaan medical education scholarship

certificates. The counselling for the rest of the 476 studentscompleted.

• Objective: Empower 46 Engineering students from rural villages and 5 faculty at JCET that will impact future batches of the Engineering students from that college.

• Duration: 7 Months

8. Mindtree Innovative Learning Center (MILC) Strategy• CSR Focus: Promoting Education [Sec-135, Sch-7 (ii)]

• Criteria for focus area:

To promote education

• Beneficiaries: Engineering students from rural villages

• Location: Jayam College of Engineering and Technology (JCET), Nallanur, Dharmapuri District, Tamilnadu.

StatusThe Mindtree Innovative Learning Center (MILC) at JCET was

launched on 10-Oct-2014. 39 engineering students and 6faculty are shortlisted for the Professional Certificate in Software Development (PCSD) under MILC. A training program to 5 faculty of MILC was conducted.

9. Ekalavya SchoolStrategy• CSR Focus: Promoting Education [Sec-135, Sch-7 (ii)]

• Criteria for focus area:

To promote education to underprivileged children

• Beneficiaries: Slum school children

• Location: Raghavendra Nagar, Jillelaguda, Saroornagar, Hyderabad

Project Details• Implementing

Agency Name: Kasturi Trust

• Objective: 47 out of 544 deserving slum children from Classes IX and X are from this school are provided with tuition fees, books and uniform fees.

• Duration: 12 Months

• Cost: Rs. 7 Lakhs

StatusThe SA-I (Summative Assessment) tests reflect the initial difficulties due to the change in evaluation system (CCE –Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation System). This is expected to improve in SA-II scheduled in Jan 2015.

• Objective: 52 intellectually challenged youngsters over 16 years of age are trained to gain confidence and error-free operation in their data-entry works.

• Mode of spend: FundStatusThe non-computer training for special educators and peers werecompleted for Abhilasha and Akkakshna centers trainers. The non-computer training for the 32 beneficiaries at the same centers are in progress.

885 Children belong to agricultural laborers and daily wage workers were brought back to school. 80% of these children show tremendous interest in reading and writing. Practice theory model is applied to educate the teachers.

• Objective: To improve the English and Mathematics standards of the children from rural Government schools through technology interventions.

• Duration: 12 Months

• Cost: 6.14 Lakhs INR

200 children from 5 schools are improving in Mathematics and English education through technology interventions of edZilla.1. First semester was used to train children on usage of the tab2. In Second semester, the children are using the tab to learn3. Weekly Reading Exercises are bringing out the actual reading levels of the children. 4. Focused training has motivated teachers also to use tabs. They also need lot of help to improve their skills.

458 slum community members were impacted through Financial inclusion and training, Livelihood linkage, Skill upgrade, and Digital literacy for youths and adults programs. This project is shortlisted as one among 5 across India for funding under National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Innovation Fund.

What didn’t go as well as expected?

• Redesign Mindtree Foundation website and update it regularly. Could not do complete in 2014-15. Working collaboratively with the Marketing team to bring up by Q1, 2015-16.

• CSR project monitoring and evaluation. We could not effectively monitor some of our projects in remote locations. We will proactively calendarize assessments of all CSR projects in 2015-16.

• Udaan project. Thorough initial study and due diligence on execution strategy could have been done

better. We will ensure Narayana Health creates year-on-year road map and implements the project successfully.
