From The Principalʼs Desk Miller School focuses on literacy because without the ability to read and write our students will struggle throughout school and beyond. Families play an important role in a child's literacy education. According to research, children whose families read to them, talk to them, and ask about school do better in school than those whose families don't do these things. Over our break, try to spend some time reading and writing together. Even 10 or 15 minutes a day can make a difference in your child's progress. Read some favorite books or magazines together, write thank you notes for gifts received, or read directions for games you play together. If you need some other ideas feel free to contact your child's teacher. Most importantly, enjoy your time together this holiday break.
Congratulations to all of our students who were
RESPONSIBLElast month.

WINTER WEATHER HAS ARRIVED Winter has arrived at Miller School. When there's snow on the ground students in grades pre-K to 4 must have boots and ski pants to play in the snow. Any student without these will be directed to play on the hot top. Fifth and sixth graders with boots will be allowed on the snow. They don't need to have ski pants but if they get wet they know they'll have to live with that decision for the rest of the day. Ski pants are therefore strongly encouraged. Students without boots must stay on the hot top. These rules are in place to keep students dry and comfortable so they can focus on learning. While not always popular we've found that it's the best policy. If your child needs ski pants and/or boots please let us know. We have some of each available here at school. If you have any outgrown ski pants or boots at home we'd love to add them to our “collection.” Please talk to your child about these rules and let us know if you have any questions.
