Macy’s Military Executive Development Program (MEDP) has been designed to leverage your leadership experience and prepare you for an initial assignment as an Assistant Store Manager, leading into the role of Vice President, Store Manager where you will lead a multi-million dollar Macy’s store. The position of Assistant Store Manager is one of the most high impact jobs at Macy’s. Our business growth strategy, called My Macy’s, sets us apart from other retailers. It gives our store leaders authority to make strategic decisions based on local market intelligence. The MEDP is a year-long program that accelerates your development through a series of four rotations. In each rotation, you will first learn a specific business unit and then lead a team of managers and associates in the performance of that business. Throughout the program you will own key business driving projects and have the opportunity to present your results and findings to management. Mentors will be assigned to you during the program, coaching you to succeed every step of the way. You will also take on additional developmental assignments throughout the program. These high exposure assignments are excellent opportunities for you to leverage your leadership and organizational skills while making key connections and driving results that matter within your community. LEADING IN A SELLING CULTURE: ROTATION 1

Your development begins by learning the foundations of the retail business and our selling culture through direct interaction with customers and frontline sales teams.

• Immerses you into the selling culture at Macy’s from many different perspectives

• Focuses on developing a high-performing sales-driven team

• Provides an opportunity to achieve results by leveraging the talents and skills of the associates and managers around you

• Exposes you to all functional areas such as selling, merchandising, event execution, vendors, human resources, operations, and loss prevention

• Requires you to motivate others, assess performance and reward excellence

MERCHANDISE TEAM LEADERSHIP: ROTATION 2

Merchandise leadership brings you behind the scenes to learn Macy’s merchandising standards, receiving operations and our workload planning and execution processes.

• Focuses on the behind the scenes processes for logistics, merchandising, visual design, signing and pricing

• Provides an opportunity to learn the business strategies and tactics for the families of business (FOB) you will supervise

• Exposes you to the district team, whose partnership is critical in driving sales

• Places you in a position to collaborate with District partners on seasonal floor planning and execution

HUMAN RESOURCES LEADERSHIP: ROTATION 3

For this rotation, you will work with Human Resources Executives to learn the critical people side of the business.

• Provides you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in talent acquisition, training & development, coaching and performance management

• Gives you exposure to District HR and Operations executives and the opportunity to work in a more global context

• Broadens your knowledge of succession planning and team development to execute your people skills in a more strategic level

• Focuses on the dynamics and details behind our core values that give us our competitive advantage

STORE LEADERSHIP: ROTATION 4

In this final rotation you will lead an area of the Stores Leadership Team, driving sales from a global, strategic and execution level.

• Places you in a higher level leadership role by managing a significantly larger volume of business and people

• Provides an opportunity for you to supervise part of the Store Leadership Team, coaching them to drive sales and improve results

• Continues to broaden your exposure to the entire store and district team. Honing your presentation skills by facilitating various meetings and training sessions

• Engages you in the financial management of the budget and Profit & Loss statement for your areas of business

• Empowers you to collaborate across functions inside the store, district and region to execute specific business driving strategies
