Winter Term 2008 – US Virgin Islands Ecology - Professor led three week course on location in the US Virgin Islands studying geology, environmental issues, and biology. Program included daily dives to gain first hand experience on the different marine ecosystems that surround the islands. Spring Break 2008- Service Leaning Experience, Ukraine - Taught English in a Ukrainian high school, and worked with the students and a Peace Corp representative to clean up a community park and rebuild a campsite. June 2008 - Learning & Research Trip, Costa Rica - Month long professor led trip to Costa Rica. Assisted with collections and measurements for research projects on mangrove and hermit crabs. Traveled to a research station in the Costa Rican rain forest and assisted with a bat collection project. Studied the ecology and ecosystems of Costa Rica Winter Term 2009-Independent Ukraine Trip -went back to village in Balklyia to see how the village had changed within in a year of our school’s service trip. Helped oral English classes with Ukrainian high school and a middle school. Worked with Peace Corp representative and learned more about Ukrainian lifestyle from working within the community. March 2009 – Bimini Shark Lab – Attended a week long program at the Bimini Biological Field Station Research Lab. While there participated in the following activities: 48 hrs of long line fishing, tending 2 vertical deep water long lines, 2 shark dives, nurse shark feedings, stingray feedings,

March 2009 – Bimini Shark Lab – Attended a week long program at the Bimini Biological Field Station Research Lab. While there participated in the following activities: 48 hrs of long line fishing, tending 2 vertical deep water long lines, 2 shark dives, nurse shark feedings, stingray feedings, chase down and tagging of lemon sharks, and gillnetting for juvenile lemon sharks.

November 2010 White Shark Project Volunteer- Participated in a month long volunteer program with Great White Sharks Projects in Gansbaii, South Africa. I assisted the staff biologist with data collection and earned seamanship skills, operation of the cage diving apparatus, along with chumming, and data collection methods.

July 2011 Marine Dynamics Research Assistant- I assisted three marine biologists with their masters’ projects dealing with Great White Sharks. Worked with water sampling equipment; including a CTD and a Dissolved Oxygen reader. Also learned how to use acoustic track devices including a hydrophone and an Omni-directional hydrophone. Duties included driving the research boat, tracking the sharks with microphones, chumming, testing water samples, placing data into excel, creating figures for of the datum, taking fin I.D photographs and sorting them with Picasso picture program.

July 2013 Sakaerat Field Station Research Assistant -I assisted a biologist with her reproductive behaviors project dealing with tree frogs for four months. Worked with camera capture equipment and software, R-Studio software, and field lab

equipment. Duties included working in pond water that would be up to the waist and higher three hours either evening or early in the morning, working different experiments in the lab, checking animals and samples, repairing equipment, and catching and taking care of animals.
