Some things will change. We have had to change many things in our daily lives due to the pandemic. Before entering the trial, please be sure you are willing to comply with social distancing and wearing a face covering. Plans are evolving and details will be available to attendees at the trial. At this time we plan to take the following precautions:

Requiring exhibitors to wear face coverings when within six feet of judges and other people not a part of their households. This is currently required in Illinois.

Requiring people to stand six feet apart everywhere and particularly in waiting lines for events.

Increasing the distances between picnic tables, ringside spaces and camping spaces.

At our Saturday night pizza party, we will have masked and gloved people serving pizza. Bring your own beverages and utensils.

Regretfully, there will be no Hometown Proud Pot Luck on Friday night. There are numerous food sources close to the trial site.

For racing, we will be loading dogs into the race box one by one. The catch pen will be enlarged and we are still working on ways to manage it.

Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the grounds.

Only one person at a time allowed in the registration office maintaining social distancing or wearing a face covering.

Arranging the raffle in a different way.

Spacing go-to-ground and super earth farther apart.

Everything is subject to change!

COVID-19

The Sandwich Fair is in DeKalb County, which is located in the North-Central Restore Illinois Health Region. For current information about Illinois’ response to COVID-19, go to https://coronavirus.illinois.gov/s/restore-illinois-introduction.

The show will go on…we hope. We are taking entries through August 3 but may have to cancel the trial before August 3 if, due to COVID-19:

The state of Illinois limits the size and/or type of gatherings.

The crossing of state lines in our region is severely restricted.

The Sandwich Fair Association cancels our reservation.

We have an insufficient number of entries.

We are unable to keep our judging panel intact and have an “A-rated” trial.

We are unable to find enough volunteers and/or paid workers to run the events.

Other unforeseen conditions.

If the trial is cancelled, payments including the $5 handling fee will be refunded minus the 2.9% fee charged to us by Stripe and PayPal for credit card payments. If using PayPal/Stripe, we suggest you submit your entries early but don’t pay until close to the deadline of August 3. If paying by check, the check will shredded or returned. Checks will not be deposited until August 5. If checks were cashed, refund checks will be mailed after the trial.

JRTCA Administration fees and membership: Your JRTs do not have to be registered or recorded with the JRTCA to attend a sanctioned trial but you must be a member of the JRTCA. This rule does not apply to people entering only non-sanctioned classes. Adult JRTs who are registered or recorded and puppies not yet eligible for registration/recording pay an administration fee of $2 per dog per day. The fee for JRTs who are not registered or recorded is $7 per dog per day. To become a member of JRTCA, go to www.therealjackrussell.com/jrtca/jrtcaprt.php or use the membership application on the last page of this flyer.

To be included in high-point tracking, register your dog in Trial Vault by checking the box for the appropriate award from the list that appears at the end of your class choices. Points are accumulated during the weekend for the awards, which are presented during the awards ceremony on Sunday. For details on how to earn points, see page 31.

Earthdog Classes and Awards: Our earthdog classes are open to terriers and other earthdog breeds such as dachshunds that measure no more than 15 inches tall at the withers. All earthdog classes are non-sanctioned. The earthdog classes are not open to JRTs registered or recorded with the JRTCA. Champion and reserve awards and ribbons for conformation. First- through sixth-place ribbons for all classes. Non-sanctioned.

Earthdog High-Point and Reserve Awards on Saturday and Sunday: This year the awards focus on rat-seeking games, are offered both days and include reserve ribbons and prizes. To be included in high-point tracking, register your dog in Trial Vault by checking the box for the appropriate award that appears at the end of your list of class choices. Presented each day at the awards ceremony, this goes to the earthdog and runner-up with the most points accumulated in Go to Ground, Super Earth, Trailing & Locating, Barn Hunt, Brush Hunt and T-N-T Tunnel classes. Non-sanctioned. For details, see page 31.

Golf Cart Rental: You enter a direct contract with Players Golf Cars (www.playersgolfcars.com) of Rockford, IL. Players Golf Cars must receive your reservation by 4 p.m. CST on August 7. The rate is $150 for the weekend plus a fair share (about $18) of the amount for the delivery and pickup. The club coordinates delivery on Friday and pickup on Sunday afternoon. Please call Kathy at (815) 874-8787 with questions and to make reservations and payment. Provide your name, email address, mobile phone number, number of carts, type of cart (box or four-passenger), and a credit/debit card for payment. A copy of the rental contract is available in the Files section on our Facebook page by clicking here.

Camping: This year, all reservations are made through Trial Vault — no need to fill out a separate form. When reserving a campsite, help us improve your stay by providing your vehicle type, license plate, preferred location and electrical hookup and water needs.

See the fairgrounds map on page 32, on our website, in the Files section on our Facebook page or click here. In the far northeast corner of the fairgrounds property is the “Outback,” a large RV park with water, 30-amp and 50-amp electric hookups and an adjacent dump station. Other locations are available with water and 30-amp electrical access. Rough camping spaces with 20-amp service and water are abundant. For sites outside of the Outback, we recommend you have UL-certified electrical service adaptors, 100 feet of UL-certified electrical service cord and 100 feet of potable water hose. No camping in conformation ringside spaces.

We honor requests in the order received. Assignments are made the Sunday before the Summer Celebration and will be sent to the email you provided with your entries. Your trial packet will include a permit to display on your windshield.

The charge for RV camping is $45 per night or $90 for the trial weekend (Thursday p.m. through Monday a.m.). The tent and overnight vehicle parking charge is $25 per night. Your on-site stay includes access to shower and toilet facilities 24/7 as well as waste and trash disposal. Please pay camping fees with your Trial Vault entry.

EARLY BIRD CAMPING AVAILABLE For those arriving in the area before Thursday afternoon, Sandwich Fair is opening their RV park (described here as Outback) for your convenience. The cost is $20 per night, payable directly to the Sandwich Fair. Please call 815-786-2159  to reserve a camping space. On Thursday afternoon, you will be able to transfer to your assigned space if in a different location.

Page 7: Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Club Summer Celebration ...€¦ · Welcome to the Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Club Summer Celebration Trials Entries: !e deadline for pre-entering the

1. All sanctioned classes are open to Jack Russell Terriers only.

2. Exhibitors and owners of terriers entered must be current JRTCA members and must not be a member of a conflicting JRT organization or register their JRTs in any all-breed registry or conflicting JRT organization. If an exhibitor is found to be in violation of this policy, entry will be disqualified and no refunds will be given. If a violation is confirmed after the trial, placements will be voided from all JRTCA records. Exhibitors must submit a completed entry form including a signed waiver for every trial they enter.

3. Entries MUST be within the 10-15” JRTCA height standard for all sanctioned classes (with the exception of pups who have not yet met the 10" height standard); measuring devices will be available on the trial grounds.

4. Puppies (under 12 months) are not eligible for championship in any division but their own. Puppies are eligible to compete only if they have reached their four-month birthday (not 16 weeks). A puppy's age is the actual age the pup is on the day of the trial.

5. Bitches in season may not compete in any division. Pre-entry fees of bitches in season will be refunded with a veterinarian certificate, or as otherwise agreed upon by the Trial Chairperson.

6. Spayed or neutered terriers may compete in Miscellaneous Conformation. They may not compete in Puppy, Family*, Open or Working Conformation. *Note: For Family Classes, Brood Bitches and Stud Dogs entered may not be spayed/neutered. The offspring at their sides may be intact or spayed/neutered.

7. A terrier bred by a sanctioned JRTCA Judge may not be shown under that Judge in the conformation division.

8. Terriers owned or co-owned by the Trial Chairperson, or any member of their household, may not be entered in any phase of the competition, with the exception of Child and Youth Handling.

9. Terriers owned by judges may not be entered in the division in which they are judging, but may enter the competition in any other division.

10. Terriers owned by stewards may be entered in any division provided that they find a substitute to perform their duties or have someone else show their terriers.

11. Requests for the measurement of a terrier entered in any class number may be made only by another exhibitor in that same class number or by the Judge EXCEPT in Racing. Requests for the measurement of a terrier in Racing may be made by the Judge or by an exhibitor with a terrier entered in the same class number; OR, if classes are split by gender, may call for the measurement of a terrier of the opposite gender in the same age and height category. (Example: The owner of an under adult dog entered in Racing may call for the measurement of an under adult bitch as the potential exists for them to race each other in the Championship Races.) Exhibitors racing puppies may call for the measurement of a puppy in a different age category as long as it is in the same height category. The person making the request for measurement must name the terrier or terriers they wish to have measured, but requests for measurement of entire classes will not be honored. The

measurement of the terrier will be considered the terrier's official height for the duration of the trial. Only JRTCA height cards issued after September 1999 will be honored.

12. Excessive use of squeaky or fur-like baiting devices by exhibitors is prohibited in the Conformation ring and may result in the exhibitor being excused from the class. "Excessive use" will be at Judge's discretion.

13. Exhibitors participating in the JRTCA Working Terrier classes or Certificate Go-To-Ground must submit the appropriate JRTCA certificates with pre-entries or at the time of post-entry. The Judge may require a copy of the certificate be presented to the Ring/Den steward at time of judging. Registered terriers may submit a copy of NHC application signed by a JRTCA Working Judge within 30 days of the date it was issued.

14. Puppies under the age of three months are not permitted on the trial grounds. Any person violating this rule will be excused from all classes entered, and asked to leave the trial site.

15. All dogs must be leashed or crated except when competition requires off-leash work. No liberty leashes allowed.

16. Overly aggressive dogs, or an owner's failure to control their dog, may result in disqualification at the discretion of the Judges or the Trial Chairperson.

17. The abuse or severe disciplining of dogs on the trial grounds is prohibited. Anyone displaying such behavior will be asked to leave the trial site, and no entry fees will be refunded.

18.. Dogs other than JRTs on the grounds may be excluded or permitted at the discretion of the Trial Chairperson.

19. Exhibitors are responsible to double check the classes they have entered and be on time. No refunds will be given for missed classes.

20. The owner/handler of a terrier entering any class does so at his/her own risk and agrees to abide by the rules of the JRTCA and the trial. A copy of the JRTCA Rule Book can be obtained by contacting the JRTCA office (410-561-3655) or it can be downloaded from the JRTCA website (www.terrier.com).

21. Unsportsmanlike conduct, or the use of foul and abusive language, will not be tolerated. Anyone demonstrating such conduct will be asked to leave the trial site and no entry fees will be refunded. In addition, such conduct will be subject to penalties which may include the suspension of membership, restriction from entering the JRTCA National Trial, and/or fines. Trial Chairpersons have the right to refuse any entry at their sole and absolute discretion.

JUDGE'S BRIEFING AT 8:15 A.M. Adult terriers may not cross-enter between regular racing classes, veteran racing classes and senior racing classes. There are some changes in the 2020 Rulebook regarding championship races. Racing champions are determined by a run-off of the first-place terrier in each class in each section. Qualifications for championship run off: a. Terrier must FINISH BOTH a flat and a hurdle race as defined in rule 8 (reaches backside of the barrier unassisted by the owner). b. Terrier must place first in the final race for that class. First place may be in flats and/or hurdles. c. Terrier who has not entered or FINISHED a race in both flats and hurdles is not eligible for championship runoff and the second-place terrier qualifies for championship runoff if that terrier meets the criteria listed above. RACING

JUDGE'S BRIEFING AT 8:15 A.M. Adult terriers may not cross-enter between regular racing classes, veteran racing classes and senior racing classes. There are some changes in the 2020 Rulebook regarding championship races. Racing champions are determined by a run-off of the first place terrier in each class in each section. Qualifications for championship run off: a. Terrier must FINISH BOTH a flat and a hurdle race as defined in rule 8 (reaches backside of the barrier unassisted by the owner). b. Terrier must place first in the final race for that class. First place may be in flats and/or hurdles. c. Terrier who has not entered or FINISHED a race in both flats and hurdles is not eligible for championship runoff and the second place terrier qualifies for championship runoff if that terrier meets the criteria listed above. The 2020 rulebook is available at www.therealjackrussell.com/trial/rulebook.php. For other information about racing, go to https://www.therealjackrussell.com/trial/racing.php.
