● Mandatory Medical Standards(a) General Medical Standards—(i) Height :Minimum acceptable height : 152·5 cm. (v)Hearing : Candidates should have normal hearing,i.e., able to hear forced whisper from a distance of6 metres with each ear separately. (vi) Dental :Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth andminimum 14 dental points. (vii) Health : Candidateshould be free from any medical or surgicaldeformity. He should be free from allcommunicable diseases and skin ailments.Candidates must be physically and mentally FIT toperform duty in any part of the world, in anyclimate and terrain, (viii) Body Tattoo : Permanentbody tattoos on inner face of the fore arms (insideof elbow to the wrist), Back (dorsal) part of thehand/reverse side of palm and Tribals with tattooswhich are as per custom and traditions of theirtribes only are permitted. However, right to decideon acceptability/ unacceptability of the individualrests with the Selection Centre. Candidates withpermanent body tattoos are to submit a photographof the Tattoo with size and type of the Tattoo.

● Tenure & TrainingEnrolment is for an initial period of 20 yearsextendable upto the age of 57 years (subject toservice condition). Initially candidates will be sentfor a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at BasicTraining Institute, Belagavi (Karnataka). Onsuccessful completion of JBPT, candidates will beallocated trades and sent for trade training ofspecified durations. Training is however liable to beterminated at any time if the trainee fails to achievethe required standards in academics, profession,physical fitness and discipline or is found to bemedically unfit. After successful completion ofTraining the Airmen will be deployed onground based jobs as per their allotted trades.Alloted trade will not be changed on candidatesrequest on any grounds.

● Written TestDuration of the written test will be 60 minutes andwill comprise of English, Physics and Mathe-matics as per 10 + 2 CBSE syllabus. Written Testwill be objective type and Question papers will bebilingual (English & Hindi) except for EnglishPaper. Candidates are to qualify in each paperseparately in their respective groups. Results ofthe written test will be declared on the same day.

● Adaptability TestAll candidates who pass the written test will haveto undertake Adaptability Test-1 which is to assesssuitability of a candidate for employment in theIAF which involves deployment in varied geo-graphic terrain, weather and operational conditions.

● Physical Fitness Test (PFT)All candidates who pass the Written Test andAdaptability Test-1 are to undergo PhysicalFitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day.PFT consists of a 1·6 km run to be completed within 7 minutes. Candidates will also have tocomplete 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups and 20 squatswithin the stipulated time to qualify in the PFT.Note : Candidates are advised to bring their sportsshoes and shorts.

● Adaptability Test-2All candidates who pass PFT will have to undertakeAdaptability Test-2 as per policy in vogue.

Adaptability Test-2 is to identify suitablecandidates with requisite comprehension andcommunication ability.

Note—Candidates qualifying for Group ‘X’ will be given thegroup according to his merit as will as his preferencegiven at the time of filling up of online application.However, President, CASB reserves the right to allocateGroup to a candidate as per vacancies available withCASB and the decision of the President, CASB in thisrespect shall be final and binding upon the candidate.

● Medical ExaminationCandidates who qualify Adaptability Test-2 will beissued with medical appointment letter at AirmenSelection Centre for their medical examination atdesignated Medical Board Centre (MBC) onspecified date. Medical Examination will beconducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAFmedical standards and policy in vogue on subjectissue. Candidates declared Medically Unfit canavail the option for Appeal Medical Board (AMB)against their unfitness by depositing 40/- in aGovernment Treasury/RBI/SBI through MilitaryReceivable Order (MRO). The application forAMB along with original copy of MRO, Photocopyof Unfitness Certificate and Postal Stamp worth Rs.25/- affixed on a self addressed envelope are to besubmitted to the respective Medical BoardCentres for processing, within three working daysfrom the date of issue of Medical UnfitnessCertificate at MBC.

Medical examination would also includeBaseline Investigation of(a) Blood Haemogram—Hb, TLC, DLC, (b) UrineRE/ME, (c) Biochemistry (i) Blood Sugar Fasting& PP, (ii) Serum Cholesterol (iii) Urea, Uric acid,Creatinine, (iv) LFT—Serum Bilurubin, SGOT,SGPT, (d) X-Ray chest (PA view), (e) ECG (R).

Note—(a) Candidates should bring latest prescription (one

month validity) and spectacles for corrected vision,if used. The prescription must bear the signature,stamp and registration number of Eye Specialist).

(b) Candidates are advised to get tartar and stainsremoved from teeth before appearing for theMedical Examination. Ears should be free of wax.Candidates should be prepared to travel/stay forthe medical test for four to five days undertheir own arrangement. No TA/DA will beadmissible.
