Annual Report: 6th Grade2012 Annual Report: 6th GradeCamp Middle School successfully openedup the 2011-12 Northstar school year in lateAugust. The two mornings greatly helpedthe incoming sixth graders with lockers, schedules, lunch and physical educationprocedures as well as meeting some ofthe Northstar staff and students. Inspeaking with parents of the incomingsixth graders, our Camp Middle School is agreat anxiety reliever for the moms anddads also. It is also a great way to get newNorthstar parents into the building rightoff the bat instead of having the parentsbecome intimidated about becoming partof the Northstar family.

Our Northstar PTSA provided food forconferences in October and February. This is a much welcomed and greatlyappreciated tradition at our school. Welook forward to returning to the “bigmeal” 5-6 pm staff supper format atconferences for 2013-14.

6th grade physical education studentsonce again appreciated the help, support, and re-fueling available for the mile rundays in October and May. Somehow thesmiles, fruit, and water make those achesand pains go away.

It is always a pleasureto see the sixth graders “pitch in” withhelpful manual labor on this day.June brings the end of the school yearwhich features the sixth grade track meet. Not only did PTSA once again provideribbons for the top 6-8 places for eachevent, but they also funded participationribbons for each sixth grader. We, as asixth grade staff, love seeing the smiles ofathletic accomplishment each year as weget to hand out these ribbons.

The sixth grade staff would like to thankthe Northstar PTSA. We feel lucky andproud to be part of this organization.

Only withyour grants could we have pulled theseevents off.

This year Northstar hosted the Inter-CityMathcounts meet. PTSA gave funds forstudents to have cookies and milk inbetween tests. It was a great practiceevent as eight students from Eau Clairewent down to the State competition thispast spring.
