1. Background:

Deputy Commissioner Roopnagar approached NIC for the development of

software for the proper monitoring of Midday Meal Scheme running in districts of

Punjab in which food is served to the students at lunch time. In present situation, it

is very difficult to check the immediate meal status, teacher and student

attendance of schools in a district and further in a state.

NIC Punjab has took initiative for the development of application using which

principal and midday meal coordinator will send midday meal status and students

present in the school through SMS in predefined format. In addition teachers can

send their attendance to the system through their authorized mobile numbers to

MIDMMS portal. MIS reports have been generated for administration on portal and

on Android App for better management, monitoring and implementation of the

scheme.

Android mobile application has also been developed to capture the data of Midday

Meal Scheme. After registration of school Principal, Midday Meal Coordinator and

teachers with Android application on MIDMMS portal he/she would send midday

meal status and students present in the school through Android application. In

addition to this school staff can mark their attendance through this application after

proper mobile number authentication. MIS reports are also available to the users

on Android Application according to their rights.



2. Salient Features:

This portal has following features:

- Role based Access

- SMS based data Collection from authorized mobile numbers in predefined SMS

format

- Web based masters and transactions entry at district headquarters level

- Data collection through Android Application

- Event Based reports

- Generation of logs

The following are the few roles for the maintenance of database through web

interface:

1) District Admin

Creation of new user, rights assignment, rights revoke, user deletion and

password change

2) District Master

Data entry, modification and deletion for districts, blocks, tehsils, villages, schools

staff masters

3) District DEO

Data entry, modification and deletion of records for school staff deputed at school

in a district

.

4) District Report

Generation of logs reports for user login and logout , teacher’s attendance (i.e.

present, on leave, absent), meal served status and school wise students

present, absent and MIS reports

The following are few standard users format for districts:

ropAdmin - District administrator, rights required District Admin

ropMaster - District master data entry, rights required District Master

ropDeo - District staff data entry, rights required District DEO

ropReport - District reporting, rights required District Reports

First three characters of user name taken form DIOs office email ID (e.g.

[email protected]) for unique identification of users at state level

The following are the application modules for the management of MIDMMS portal:

Administrator Module

The user creation, deletion, modification and password change can be done.

The user with District Admin rights can create district level users, edit user

information and reset their password if required and delete any user if it is not

required any more.

Click on Assign new role Link or delete any user role.

User Login Report

Master Entry Module

The master data entry, modification and deletion of districts, blocks, tehsils, villages

and schools.

1. Manage district: - District admin can update district information.



2. Manage Block: - District admin can update blocks information under district.

3. Manage Tehsil: - District admin can update blocks information under district.



4. Manage Villages: - District admin can update and add new village information

under district.

5. Manage School: - District admin can update and add new school information

under district.



Staff Entry Module

For the data entry of school staff deputed at school (i.e. Teachers, midday meal

coordinator and Principal detail)

Reports Module

To print and view reports of user login, login activity, teacher attendance (present,

leave, absent), Meal Served status, Student present/absent report school wise.



Mobile Number Registration and Verification Life cycle AT the time of data entry of school staff, when mobile number saved along with data,

system will automatically send security code and pre-defined SMS format through

SMS to entered mobile number with school name to verify mobile number of

teachers entered at a school. The concerned teacher has to send same SMS back

for his/her mobile number. e.g. MEAL RM 8000000000 SC 12345 to virtual mobile number

i.e. 918288029899. After receiving the SMS back at the portal, the system will send

acknowledgement back to the sender “Welcome TO Midday Meal Scheme. Your

mobile number has been registered successfully”

SMS Message Format for teacher Attendance Each teacher has to send this SMS daily for their attendance: Teacher Present SMS Format:

If SMS not received on any working day for a particular teacher then that teacher will

be treated as absent for a whole day.



Message Format for Meal serves to student Meal Served and students present SMS format: For Wheat MEAL<space>MS<space>W<space>SP<space>130 For Rise MEAL<space>MS<space>R<space>SP<space>130 Meal not Served and Students not Present SMS format: MEAL<space>MS<space>N<space>SP<space>0 Meal not Served and Students Present SMS format: MEAL<space>MS<space>N<space>SP<space>59 Note: MEAL is a keyword MS - Meal Served SP – Students Present W – Wheat Served R – Rise Served N – No

Mobile no Verification The SMS will be sent by MIDMMS portal to teacher at the time of mobile number entering during data entry. Each teacher has to send same SMS back to virtual mobile number 8288029899 to verify mobile number. The format of SMS is as follows: . MEAL<space>RM<space>919000000000<space>SC<space>12345 Acknowledgement SMS messages format:

1) Successful :- MESSAGE SENT SUCCESSFULLY

2) Wrong Format:- WRONG MESSAGE FORMAT, PLEASE TYPE: MEAL MS Y SP 120 or MEAL

MS N SP 0 for Mid day meal Format and: MEAL TA P or MEAL TA L for teacher attendance

3) Mobile No Not Registered:- MOBILE NO NOT AUTHORIZED TO SEND SMS, PLEASE

CONTACT YOUR DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR AND UPDATE YOUR MOBILE NO

4) Mobile No Not Verified: - MOBILE NO NOT CONFIRMED ‘MEAL RM 8000000000 sc 12345

Note: 8000000000 will be replaced with teacher mobile number by the system

automatically at the time of sending SMS.

6) Wrong Security Code: - Security code is not match, which was sent to your mobile no.

7) Same Attendance Message Again: - Same Message Already received from this device.

Android Mobile Application Features The teachers who have smart mobile phone, they can download MIDMMS android mobile application from portal and install on their phone and they can send same information using application which they are sending through SMS. To use this application, first user has to register with portal by using MIDMMS mobile application. One Time Mobile No registration Enter authorized mobile no for mobile verification code. It will send 6 digit security codes through SMS.



User will receive message “Your random number generated is 544711. Please use it to get your Mobile app registration.” Enter 6 digit security codes on mobile screen and verify your mobile no mobile apps.



After submit security code page user will get home page of application. On home page there are three button displayed.

1. Meal Server: To send meal serve status information. 2. Attendance: To send teacher’s attendance 3. Report: To generate MIS reports



1. Meal Server process:-Click on Meal serves and select option Wheat, Rice or

not served and enter total student present in school. Submit page and confirm if it is correct other wise modify and submit again.

Format of SMS for Mid day meal as in Android application

W for wheat, R for Rice & N for not-served etc.



2. Teacher Attendance process: - The teacher has to send their attendance daily. The format of attendance is as follows:

Present / on Full Leave / Half afternoon / half forenoon / Partial afternoon / Partial

forenoon etc...



Submit attendance page and confirm if correct.



3. Reports:- Click on report

button chose option from teacher attendance report or midday meal report.

Click On teacher report to view last month report Click on meal report to view Meal serve report.



Click on back button and exit from application.
