CELESTE WELTY, is an Extension Entomologist and Associate Pro-fessor of Entomology at Ohio State’s main campus in Columbus . She’s a native of Pennsylvania, with a Ph .D . degree in entomol-ogy from Cornell University . Her extension and research projects focus on pests of vegetable and fruit crops, as grown on commer-cial farms and in home gardens . She evaluates pest monitoring methods and multi-tactic controls that are used in integrated pest management programs .

RICK YATES, has been providing technical support for greenhouse and nursery growers for over 24 years through Griffin Greenhouse Supplies . As Technical Service manager for GGSPro, Rick has cre-ated over 100 technical bulletins in addition to writing for various trade publications and the Griffin Gazette . He is also co-author of the GGSPro Reference Guide . Public speaking on topics include: pest control, pollinator safety, growth regulators, plant nutrition and crop culture in many venues across the country including Cultivate, SAF Pest Conference, Cooperative Extension and grow-er meetings . Rick’s diagnostic skills are utilized by growers across the country . Education: B .S . Horticulture, University of Maryland, College Park, MD . 1979

TOM WITTEN, is a 3rd generation owner/operator of The Witten Farm Market & Greenhouse . Along with his brother, Scott, and sister, Julie, they farm approximately 450 acres, 320 of which are Sweet Corn . They retail their flowers and fresh fruits and veg-etables at their roadside farm markets throughout Southwestern and Central Ohio . At the farm, Tom serves as the greenhouse grower, manages sweet corn planting and harvest, and specializes in chemical application .

JOHN MILLER JR, and wife Ruth found a weed farm in the hills of Coshocton County in 2010 and have been trying to turn it into a real farm ever since . The challenges have been many but also many triumphs . We are not friends of the deer, rabbits, ground-hogs, and raccoons .

SCOT BOWMAN, is the owner of Quality Fresh LLC, a compa-ny devoted to doing on farm GAP audits . Having grown produce himself, Scot knows the challenges you face and is dedicated to helping you comply with the new Food Safety requirements . Scot retired from Timken Steel in Canton, Ohio after 35 years of ser-vice . He is very active in his church and community . Scot resides in Magnolia, Ohio, with his wife Mary . They have 4 sons .

BRENT BAKER, is a 5th generation specialty crop grower in Au-gusta, Ohio, at Manfull Orchards . The Manfull family started farming in Augusta in 1837 and has continued its orchard and veg-etable operations until present with traditional and modern farm-ing practiced . Along, with wife Jennifer and their four children the Bakers operate Twigg Winery and Vineyard near Augusta .

SALLEY MILLER, is Professor of Plant Pathology at the Ohio State University, OARDC, and state Extension specialist for vegetable crop disease management . She received her B .Sc . in Biology at Ohio State University, and M . Sc . and Ph .D . in Plant Pathology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison . Her research and extension programs focus on disease diagnostics and sustainable manage-ment of vegetable crop diseases in conventional and organic open field and protected environment production systems . Her lab pro-vides clinical diagnostic services to vegetable producers . Dr . Mill-er works in collaborative projects on microbial food safety and the interaction of plan and human pathogens on produce . She has participated in integrated pest management research and training programs in a number of countries . She is currently the Vice Presi-dent of the American Phytopathological Society .

DAVID KLINE, is a semi-retired farmer . He and his wife help their daughter and son-in-law farm 150 acres and operate a 50-cow or-ganic dairy near Mt Hope, Ohio . Their farming blends older tra-ditional methods with newer concepts in a manner that enhances rather than hinders a farm’s biodiversity, while at the same time adding to the land’s profitability . David and Elsie have 5 children; all are married and involved in agriculture . David is an editor for Farming Magazine, a quarterly publication supporting small-scale and profitable family farming .

VERONICA CERVANTES, has been involved in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) since 1996 . She started in Argentina, where she earned her Bachelor´s degree in Agriculture, working with Orius insidiosus . In 1997 she joined Magan Argentina, where she worked in the development, marketing and registration of pesticides . In 2001 she moved to Canada and completed her MSc degree at the University of British Columbia . She worked on the biological con-trol of cabbage loopers using a baculovirus . In 2005 she joined The Bug Factory Ltd ., a distributor of Biobest in western Canada, helping greenhouse and field crop growers in British Columbia, Alberta and western USA with their biological control needs .

MICHAEL PHILLIPS, is renowned for helping people grow healthy fruit using herbal protocols . The “community orchard movement” that he helped found at www .GrowOrganicApples .com provides a full immersion into the holistic approach to orchard-ing . His Lost Nation Orchard is part of a medicinal herb farm in northern New Hampshire . He is the author of The Apple Grower and The Holistic Orchard which recently received Garden Book of the Year honors from the American Horticulture Society . His work has been compared with Sir Albert Howard and J .I . Rodales’s classic books on organic gardening . Michael’s latest, Mycorrhizal Planet: How Fungi and Plants Work Together to Create Dynamic Soils, will rock you!

BILL MCNITT, is Head Grower at McNitt Growers in Carbondale . After serving in the US Air Force he joined the family business . In 1999 he graduated from Southern Illinois University in Car-bondale with a degree in Plant and Soil Science . Bill’s experience at Mcnitt Growers has been very broad . They have had an apple and peach orchard, a wine grape vineyard, grown vegetables, brambles, and blueberries . They have been the most successful with their greenhouse and strawberry plug plant operations . With 1 ½ acres of greenhouse space that grow bedding plants and veg-etable starts . The plants are sold to independent garden centers, small chains, fundraisers and retail sales at their farm . The green-houses are open from late January through Memorial Day . Dur-ing the summer they propagate strawberry plugs for commercial strawberry growers using a plastic culture system . They grew and shipped strawberry plus to 22 different states last year .

MARK COBLENTZ, founded Walnut Creek Foods in 1977 as a one-man, one-truck distributor of local cheeses and Trail Bologna to retailers in Northern Ohio . Today Mark, along with 375 team mem-bers, run an operation consisting of two retail stores, manufactur-ing and wholesale distribution to over 2,000 retailers in 15 states . Mark loves to share what he has learned on his 40 year business journey

CHRISTINA CURELL, Extension Educator with MSU Extension, is a statewide nutrient management and waterquality covering all agriculture commodities . Curell helps farmers integrate cover crops and soil health practices into their farming system to meet their nutrient needs and to protect Michigan's natural resources . Curell is housed out of the Lake County oce in Baldwin but assists farmers throughout the state .

DON STOECKEL, is a microbiologist, educator, and researcher with Cornell’s Produce Safety Alliance . He collaborated with the Cornell National Good Agricultural Practices Program for about a decade on water quality issues related to food safety before joining the PSA team . During those years he worked at the US Geological Survey and Battelle Memorial Institute where he did a lot of lab research on origins, fate and trans-port of chemicals and pathogens in contaminated water and water systems, mathematical model calculations to measure benefits from recommended practices to reduce public health consequences (foodborne illness), and actual sampling and lab measurement of water quality in Ohio and across the U .S . Dr . Stoeckel joined the Produce Safety Alliance in August 2015 to serve as the Midwest Regional Extension Associate and learns more from growers about on-farm practices every single day .

BEN HARTMAN, is the author of The Lean Farm, a 2016 win-ner of the Shingo Institute’s Prestigious Research and Profes-sional Publication Award, and The Lean Farm Guide to Grow-ing Vegetables . He and his wife own and operate Clay Bottom Farm in Goshen, Indiana, where they make their living on less than one acre growing and selling specialty produce to restau-rants, at a farmers’ market, and through a CSA . Hartman was appointed to the 2017 Grist 50, a list of emerging green leaders in the United States .

WENDY CARPENTER, grows an acre and a half of certified organic vegetable at her farm, Christopher Farm, in East Cen-tral Indiana . In her 20th season at Christopher Farm, crops are marketed through farmers markets, a CSA, and to restaurants in the Indianapolis area . Known for her specialty varieties, she grows a wide variety of vegetables, including ginger and tur-meric, specialty potatoes and sweet potatoes, tomatoes, pep-pers, salad greens, and many other crops, as well as organic vegetable bedding plants . GEORGE REMINGTON, of MorningSide Farm has operated for 7 years in Hinckley Ohio, between Cleveland and Akron . We work 3 plots, that were rejected by local grain farmers, total-ing 6 acres . We market direct to consumers through farmers markets and e-commerce as well as to restaurants and small grocers . Our produce is available 12 months a year, chang-ing each week with the seasons . Diverse, constantly changing crops, unquestionably safe and healthy organic produce keep our customers interested and coming back for more every week . Our fields are prepared with a tractor but most of our planting, cultivation and harvesting is done by hand . We hire a relatively large crew much of the year . Careful record keep-ing and planning help us grow only as much as we can sell at a favorable price .

BUDD LEISENRING, has been growing garlic for over 35 years . His Certified Naturally Grown farm is located in Portage County Ohio . He practices only organic farming methods and grows 21 varieties of hard neck garlic . A member of the Garlic Seed Foundation BJ Gourmet Garlic Farm strives to produce only the highest quality garlic .

BOB MUTH, Farming has been Bob’s passion ever since he can remember . Growing up on a small farm, he was involved in farm activities at an early age . For three years, Bob worked helping tobacco growers transition to vegetable crops, after which he decided to move back to South Jersey to farm along with his father . After his return, Bob decided to expand on his education and attend the University of Delaware to work to-ward his masters degree . Bob and Leda met, and married a few years later . In 2001 they started an organic CSA with 35 mem-bers . By 2015, the CSA had expanded to over 400 families . After fifteen years of running a successful CSA, Bob and Leda have decided to open a farm stand in it’s place .

JEFF HAWKINS/BRAD MUCK, Uncle John’s Plant Farm is approx . 4 acres under roof, established in 1974, grows Easter plants, annuals, fall mums, poinsettias thru out the year . Jeff Hawkins is owner, Brad Muck is grower/ general manager, and Marcia Hawkins runs the retail side of the operation . We sell mainly to garden centers in the state of Ohio and western Pa .

RICHARD PSOLLA, grew up on a farm in Northeast Ohio where his father was one of the original members of a group that created Brookside Laboratories, Inc . Richard joined Brook-side in 1959, along with eleven other independent agricultural consultants . His primary goal for his clients was to establish fertility programs that balance the soil, and produce healthy, disease resistant plants for animal and human consumption . The Brookside consultants’ philosophy is that the best way to accomplish this goal is through comprehensive soil analysis, and applying Dr . Albrecht’s theory of balancing cation ratios in soils .

LARRY KLCO, is owner operator of Rainbow Farms in Madi-son, Ohio . He started farming in 1983, with the help of his wife, children, in laws, and grand children have grown to where they grow over 40 different fruits and vegetables . With the help of high tunnel production they are a year round farm market .

DEBBIE PFIER, is a 1981 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Ag Economics, she is part of the Hull family that owns White House Fruit Farm . Debbie grew up on the farm and has been managing the farm market since 1981 . They are a year round farm market which grows apples, peaches, straw-berries, blueberries, and many vegetables . Debbie is a Former Board member of Greenstar Cooperative and North American Direct Farmers Marketing Association

WENJING GUAN, is a horticultural specialist at Purdue Uni-versity . She conducts applied research in commercial vegetable production, focusing on watermelon, cantaloupe, as well as season extension of diverse vegetables using different tunnel systems . She leads the watermelon and cantaloupe variety tri-als that are conducted annually at Southwest Indiana . Wenjing serves as the editor of the Purdue Extension Publication Veg-etable Crops Hotline Newsletter .

LEVI KUHNS, is the order buyer at the Farmers Produce Auc-tion here in Mt Hope, a position he’s had for the past 20 years . In the early days at the auction Levi and his wife and fam-ily grew several acres of produce, and still grows some garlic which he sells through the auction .

WOOLF FAMILY FARM, Established in 1975, they grow 6-8 acres of strawberries, 20 acres of peaches and 40 acres of apples .
