Q.1 For circular waveguide having an internal diameter of 15 cm. Calculate cut-off
frequencies for (i) TE21 mode when the root of the Bessel function is 3.05 (ii) TM12
mode when the root of Bessel function is 7.02.
Q.2 A loss less parallel strip line has a conducting strip width w. The substrate
dielectric separating two conducting strips has a relative constant ε rd of 6 (beryllia
or beryllium oxide BeO) and a thickness d of 4 mm. Find out the required width w
of the conduction strip in order to have a characteristic impedance of 50ohm and
also calculate the strip line capacitance.
[Hint: Refer to chapter 11 of “Microwave devices and circuit” by “S.Y.Liao” ]
