What is the Interim Executive Leadership (IEL) Program?
The Interim Executive Leadership (IEL) Program is a comprehensive training, placement and support
initiative designed for qualified, experienced nonprofit professionals in transitional nonprofit ExecutiveDirector/CEO positions in New York State. Interim Executive Leaders trained through our program willprovide effective transitional leadership to nonprofits in order to strengthen organizational health and
effectiveness during a time of transition. The Interim Executive Leadership (IEL) program is designed to
help meet the needs of nonprofit agencies as significant numbers of nonprofit executives are expected toretire over the next 5 years.
Consider Hiring an Interim Executive Leader if your organization: Is currently operating without an Executive Director; Has experienced Executive Director/CEO turnover over the last few years and the agency requires
stabilization;
Is expecting your Executive Director/CEO to retire or resign, and you require sufficient time toconduct a thorough search process; Is seeking an experienced, qualified nonprofit professional trained in transition management to
guide the organization through a short-term period of transition.

Nonprofits Leadership Transition!About the IEL Program:NYCON, in partnership with its subsidiary corporation, Innovative Charitable Initiatives (ICI), hasdeveloped a pool of highly qualified and experienced Interim Executive Leaders (IELs) that areavailable to meet your Interim Executive Leadership needs.
Program & Placement Details:NYCON trains and selects a pool of interim executives who, depending on their competencies, availability
and location, will be offered as candidates to our member nonprofits experiencing transition.
NYCON will assess the situation and needs of requesting nonprofits and provide them with candidates
from our pool to interview and decide as to whom, if any, they want as interim ED or CEO. All interimexecutive leaders that are placed by NYCON will be under an employment contract with ICI, whichspecializes in employment administration. NYCON will be retained by the member nonprofit for the IEL
services and will in turn subcontract with ICI. NYCON provides all the necessary referral, assessment,placement, and supportive service arrangements.
Many member nonprofits will also access additional NYCON services such as search assistance, financial
management, legal, board development, etc. In most cases, but not all, interim executives will beworking on a part-time schedule, generally 3 full days per week. The typical engagement will last 3-6months.
Interim executives will be compensated based on the previous occupants salary plus a percentage of thevalue of the mandatory and optional benefits prorated for FTE time spent. Direct expenses, includingmileage, will also be reimbursed. As an employee of ICI, interims will receive mandatory liability
insurance coverage. The Member client will be charged the pro-rated cost of the interim executive
compensation (including a percentage of optional benefits) plus a 15% fee.
