Assignment Overview

In this assignment, students will explore and describe the Microsoft® PowerPoint® 2010 window and

create a new blank presentation.

Assignment Goals

The goal of this assignment is to help students explore and describe the PowerPoint 2010 window, and

create a new blank presentation. Students will save the presentation, edit the presentation and properly

exit the program.

Student Assignment 1:

You have signed up as a volunteer tutor in the school library to work after school with students who need

help in developing study skills. One of the methods you plan to use with them is to deliver a brief

presentation on study skills that have been successful for you.

Create your study skills presentation using the following information:

1. Open Microsoft® PowerPoint® 2010

2. Title slide 1:

a. Heading Basic Study Skills

b. Subheading your name

3. Slide 2 (bulleted list) Title: Do not do too much at once

a. Prioritize your work

b. Space out the work over time

c. Take short breaks to restore your energy

4. Slide 3 (bulleted list) Title: Plan for studying

a. Set aside time to study

b. Study in a quite location

c. If you are studying daily, schedule the same time of day

d. Set small, attainable goals

5. Slide 4 Title: Know how to study

a. Work on the most difficult assignment first, while energy is high

b. Review notes before beginning

c. Review objectives of the assignment

d. Complete all necessary reading for the assignment

e. Summarize what you read

f. Ask for help if you need it

6. Slide 4 Title: Work ahead of the deadline

a. Know your deadlines

b. Attempt to be at least two days ahead of the deadline

c. Use a calendar to keep track of assignment due dates

7. Slide 5:

8. Save the presentation as Project1a_complete in the PowerPoint 2010 folder on your storage

device.

9. Make the following changes to slide 3in the Outline pane.

a. Change the information on bullet #3 to be Schedule to study the same time of day.

10. Make the following changes to slide 4 in the Slide pane.

a. Change the information on bullet #1 to be Always work on most difficult assignment first.

b. Change the word reading in bullet #4 to be reading materials.

11. Save the presentation as Project1b_complete in the PowerPoint 2010 folder on your storage

device.

12. Close the presentation and PowerPoint.
