The study of microRNA is growing rapidly as researchers discover

new microRNAs and uncover the importance of these small

regulatory elements linked to a wide range of biological functions.

The miRBase sequence database is the primary public repository

for newly discovered microRNAs and the number of miRBase

entries has grown rapidly from a mere 218 in 2002 to almost

30,000 in the latest version, suggesting the existence of many

more microRNAs yet to be discovered.

Contributing to the rapid rate of new discoveries is the

development of several new advanced technologies such as high-

throughput sequencing and custom microfluidic arrays. The

increasing availability of these technologies makes the discovery of

new sequences in lesser understood organisms now routinely

A comprehensive microRNA expression profiling service to save you time, labor and

material costs. From your total RNA sample through data analysis in about two

weeks. In-depth data analysis includes all t-Tests, ANOVA and heat maps to get you

the information you need. Complex multi-array experiments are no problem for our

experienced technical team. Includes high level technical support.

Microfluidic Array Platform

These are not spotted arrays! A proprietary µParaflo® microfluidic biochip is used

and probes are produced by direct synthesis on the chip. The microfluidic technology

produces a uniform distribution of the sample solutions on the array and enhances

binding reactions and stringency wash processes.

The microarray chip consists of thousands of three-

dimensional chambers and is a closed system. Dye

oxidation and deterioration are not an issue!

Optimized RNA Hybridization Probes

LC Sciences’ Optimized RNA Hybridization Probes are

designed with normalized Tms and experimentally

tested to ensure uniform hybridization affinity to

their microRNA targets under high stringency hybridization conditions, enhancing

All of our microarrays are made to order and synthesized to each customer’s

particular specifications. We start with the most current content from the miRBase

microRNA sequence database and then add any sequences of your choice. Validate

computational predictions, confirm sequencing data, or create totally custom tiling

Higher Quality Data

The superior µParaflo® platform enables on-chip synthesis ensuring high probe

quality and tight process control which produces very-low-noise signals and reveals

Data Analysis

Full data analysis is included so that you can

immediately use information derived from the

experiment. Background subtraction and

normalization are performed. For sample comparison,

a p-value calculation is performed and a list of

differentially expressed transcripts is produced based

on a predetermined p-value threshold. The results are

organized and a summary is emailed. The complete

data set including: all images, raw data, and normalized data is saved to a CD, and

shipped via overnight carrier.

miRBase

The miRBase sequence database is a comprehensive database of microRNA sequence

data, annotation, and predicted gene targets. It is the primary public repository for

these data. Updates to the database are released approximately every four months.

Custom Probe Content

These are not spotted arrays. Each microarray is custom synthesized when ordered.

That means we can add custom content to any of our standard microRNA microarrays

with no delay in data delivery. There is no charge for the addition of up to 100 of your

custom sequences. Furthermore, the entire contents of our arrays are completely

customizable according to the customer’s design at a very affordable price.

Add controls of customer’s choice for the detection of customer-added spiking RNA

sequences and use as customer-selected internal controls.

Degradome sequencing (Degradome-Seq), also referred to as parallel analysis of RNA ends

(PARE), incorporates a modified 5′-rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) method with high-

throughput next-gen sequencing to provide a comprehensive means of analyzing patterns of RNA

degradation.

complementarity to mRNAs, degradome sequencing has been used to identify microRNA cleavage
