MicroLouvre solar screen is the result of decades of extensive and exhausve internaonal research and development which has made it probably the most efficient modern method of solar control.

The unique method of stopping the sun from ever reaching the window, by means of miniaturised bronze micro-louvres, which nevertheless permits almost uninterrupted outward vision, has been used extensively all over the world on every type of building.

The MicroLouvre mesh, only 1.27mm (0.05 inches) wide are woven together by vercal bronze warp wires and are set to a nominal 17°. Although MicroLouvre is corrosion resistant in itself, it is given a polyester powder coat for added endurance. The screen is framed under tension and then fied by various methods to the exterior of the window to suit individual applicaons.

Window glass exposed to the sun permits heat gains which can increase inside temperatures to exceed 38° C (100° F) -

Ÿ · Work output decreases per person Ÿ · More mistakes are made Ÿ · Absenteeism increases Ÿ · Open windows allow in noise

Window glass exposed to the sun also permits excessive

glare which brings about -Ÿ · Worker discomfort Ÿ · Unneeded distracons Ÿ · Eye strain

Even in air condioned buildings -Ÿ Energy costs go upŸ Hot and cold spots develop due to uneven

distribuon of condioned airŸ Equipment life is shortened Ÿ Maintenance costs go upŸ Glare is a connuing problem

Product Profile

Solar Shading Performance RequirementsMicroLouvre screens provide 100% shade to windows at sun

angle of 40° or greater when they are installed outside, in close proximity to the window, and in a vertical plane.

Air Passage:MicroLouvre screens permit an open area of at least 79% for air passage.

Wind Resistance: MicroLouvre screens do not offer wind resistance excess of 24.41kg/ M2 (5lbs per sq ft.) with a wind velocity of 60 miles per hour through the screen.

Brightness Ratios:MicroLouvre screens control excessive brightness and sky glare at the windows. This means acceptable Brightness Ratios can be maintained as recommended by the Illuminating Engineering Society.

Reduction in Heat Loss: MicroLouvre screens reduce heat loss outward through 6mm clear plate glass at night under winter design conditions by at least 15%.

Reduction of Noise: MicroLouvre screens have reduced external noise intensity by as much as 50%.

Insect Protection: MicroLouvre screens provide at least 17 horizontal wires to the vertical 25mm (1inch) – equivalent to or better than fine insect screen.

Fact: The Sun’s Energy is transmied by short wave radiaonFact: 81% of this energy penetrates normal glassFact: Every 1.8 square metres of normal glass transmits heat equivalent to a 1 kilowa heater.Fact: This short wave energy is absorbed by objects it strikes and long wave radiant heat energy is generated which cannot escape back through the glass. Result: THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT Fact: Interior shading devices like curtains, nted glass and blinds do help but they stop light and visibility. However, the radiant heat is already trapped inside!Result: THE RADIATOR EFFECT

Tested Performance

Fact: MicroLouvre screens absorb up to 92% of the suns radiaon. Fact: MicroLouvre screens stop up to 86% of total solar heat gain.Fact: MicroLouvre screens reflect no more than 16% of total solar glare. Fact: MicroLouvre screens allow up to 45% back of room daylight transmiance.Result: A COOL COMFORTABLE DAYLIGHTED INTERIOR

All Microlouvre mesh and extrusions are available in polyester

powder coat tested to exceed the requirements of ISO 9227, ISO

6270 & ASTM G154 QUVB 313B bulbs tests. MicroLouvre frames are

6063 T6 extruded aluminium exclusively designed for framing the

MicroLouvre screen The corners of the frames have concealed .

internal reinforcing members inserted in such a manner as to secure

all corners neatly and firmly together. Top and boom frames are

pre-bowed as required to reduce to a minimum the deflecon due to

screen tension. The frames are designed to receive connuous vinyl

strips in each side frame and a connuous stainless steel lacer wire in

each horizontal frame, all correctly assembled to ensure screen

tautness and to maintain the angle of the louvres. All fasteners,

anchors and hardware are a stainless steel or anodised aluminium.
