The Microbiological Safety Cabinet (MSC) is the ideal clean workbench to ensure both product and personal protection. Controlled airflows in the cabinets create a dust free and germfree environment that offers both product and personal protection. In addition, cross-contamination and emissions of undesirable substances in the environment will be prevented.

How the Microbiological Safety Cabinet worksIn the safety cabinet, a classified laminar airflow movesvertically down through the workspace. Process particles,released into the workspace are carried by this airflow, awayfrom the work area. This creates a dust free and germfree environment, which complies with Class 5 according to NEN-EN ISO 14644-1. As a result, the products in the work area are guaranteed to be protected. Air is drawn in via a V-groove grille at the front of the worktop. A fan ejects part of the extracted air from the work area through a HEPA-filter into the environment / HVAC installation. Through the gap between the worktop and the bottom of the front window, the ejected air is suplemented (inflow). This inflow of air ensures the desired personal protection and ensures that no air from the bench can escape to the environment.

Do I need a IIA or IIBDepending on the process taking place in the MicrobiologicalSafety Cabinet (MSC), it must be determined whether a seriesIIA or IIB is required. The physical difference between a MSC IIAand MSC IIB is that the IIB serie has an additional HEPA filtration stage. As a result, the HEPA main filter can be replaced contamination free.

Composition of the Microbiological Safety CabinetThe Microbiological Safety Cabinet (MSC) is a strong and robust product. The MSC is made of High Pressure Laminate (HPL).This material is germfree and does not release particles. Due to the smooth surface, the material can be easily cleaned.

The workspaceThe MSC workspace is completely made of stainless steel. The wallsand bins are made of stainless steel AISI 304 and the worktop ismade of stainless steel AISI 316 to make it more resistant.Stainless steel is resistant to various chemicals and excellent toclean. The front of the worktop has a round edge, making it morecomfortable to work with. Situated outside the workspace, thesafety cabinet has a tilting light hood that is equipped with LEDlighting. This lighting is energy efficient and its light intensity isadjustable on the control panel.

Operation of the workbenchThe MSC is operated via the control panel with integratedtouchscreen located on the front of the workbench. This control panel is very user-friendly and is used to operate

Filter systemThe Microbiological Safety Cabinet type IIA has a two-stage

filter system and type IIB has a three-stage filter systemwhich consists of:

1. Pre-filter The pre-filter is of a mat type and is situated below the worktop and prevents the fan and the expensive HEPA-filterfrom getting dirty too quickly. The mat is easily replaceable without the use of tools. This pre-filter with class G3complies with the European Standard NEN-EN 779.

2. Main filter and exhaust filterThese filters are HEPA-filters and the filter media is packed inan anodised aluminum frame and consists of very fine glassfibers that have been manufactured into a very high densityfilter sheet. Air is drawn at extremely low speed through the filter media, resulting in high efficiency filtration of the air. The filter is water resistant and flame retardant. This HEPA-filter class H14 achieves 99.995% MPPS efficiency (Most Penetrating Particle Size) according to NEN-EN 1822.

3. Security filter (type IIB only)The security filter is an ULPA-filter and the filter media is packed in an anodised aluminum frame and consists of very fine Teflon fibers that have been manufactured into a very high density filter sheet. Air is drawn at extremely low speed through the filter media, resulting in high efficiency filtration of the air. The filter is water resistant and flame retardant. This ULPA-filter class U15 achieves 99.9995% MPPS efficiency (Most Penetrating Particle Size) according to NEN-EN 1822.

The fanThe fan is very energy efficient compared to a standard fan, which makes it possible to save the equivalent of severalhundred euro's a year in energy costs. This low energy consumption also translates directly into a lower heat load, which means less cooling is required.

The chassisThe MSC comes with a stable chassis. Thanks to the ergonomic construction of the MSC, optimal legroom is provided. The powder coated steel chassis is fitted with adjustable feet for easy leveling of the unit. The chassis is available in seating height (worktop height 760 mm) and standing height (worktop height 940 mm). In addition, an electric in height adjustable frame can be purchased.

Maintenance and validation of your MicrobiologicalSafety CabinetBefore the MSC is dispatched from our factory, we undertakea series of rigorous factory tests. This includes a visual inspection,a function test and an air velocity measurement. This is to proveand guarantee that the MSC meets all applicable legislation,regulations and the strict quality standards of Interflow.

Upon delivery of the MSC, a comprehensive measurementand validation protocol is performed on site to ensure the unit is operating correctly and ready for use. A full commissioning report

will be sent to you within two weeks.
