• Nolan started his career with the New York Mets. He didn’t do well with the Mets and was traded to the California Angels (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim). This is noted one of the worst trades in Mets history and one of the best in Angel history. His nickname was The Ryan Express. After the Angels he went to the Houston Astros because he was a Texas boy and wanted to go back to Texas. He has the most career strike outs ever with 5,714. • Ty Cobb was born on December 18th, 1886. One thing that is not mentioned about Cobb was his fielding. He committed 271 errors in his career. But on the bright side he was a great hitter. He also was a fast runner and his amount of career stolen bases was broken in 1977 by Ricky Henderson. Cobb sharpened his cleats so when he slid he would injure the opposing player. Ty Cobb passed away in July 17th 1961.

Babe was a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. On the days he wasn’t pitching, he played right field. After he was traded to the New York Yankees, he was became a full-time right fielder. The Yankees wanted his bat every day and that is why they moved him to the out field. For a season he played with the Boston Braves(after they became the Milwaukee Braves and now the Atlanta Braves).

• Hank was known as Hammerin Hank. Hank was one of the most powerful hitters of all-time. Hank played with Milwaukee Braves and when they became the Atlanta Braves he played with them. After, he played with the expansion team Milwaukee Brewers. He has the most career home runs ever. Some people didn’t want Hank to beat Babe for two reasons : he was a black and they liked Babe. But he had courage and beat Babe.

• Cy was one of the best pitchers of all-time. He has the most career wins with 511 and 2,803 he was to overweight. A year after he died baseball invented The Cy Young award which in his honor. Strikeouts. Cy has the fourth all-time shutouts with 76. He won 30 games in 5 seasons and in 10 seasons he won 20. He pitched three no hitters and one being a perfect game. His perfect game was the third ever. Cy retired because every one bunted and he was to overweight to get the bunts.

Christy Mathewson who was also known as Big Six, Christian Gentleman and Matty. Christy was in the first 5 to go into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Christy has the 3rd most wins of all time with 373 (behind Cy Young and Walter Johnson). He has the most wins ever from the national league (tied with Grover Cleveland Alexander). He had a great fastball and outstanding control. He also featured a fadeaway which now is none as a screwball.

Walter played his 21 year career all with the Washington Senators. He has 2 MVP awards. In 1924 the Senators won the World Series with Walter leading the pitching staff. He has the second most career wins with 417 behind Cy Young with 511. He has the most career shutouts with 110. He is called Barney and The Big Train. Walter led the league in strike outs 12 times. He has the 4th most complete games with 531.

Lou was born in Yorkville, New York City, New York. Lou was a first base man. He played 17 seasons with the New York Yankees. He batted fourth behind Babe Ruth. This was called murderers row. He was in the All-Star game 7 times and won 6 World Series. He died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Since he died from it people now call it The Lou Gehrig disease.

Warren was a left handed pitcher. He played his whole 21 years in the majors all in the National league. In thirteen seasons he won 20 games. Warren won a Cy Young award in 1957. He was in the All-star game 17 times. He won the World Series in 1957. He had 2,583 career strikeouts. When he was inducted into the Hall of Fame he had 82% of the votes. His career win loss record is 363-245. His number 21 was retired by the Atlanta Braves.
