I would like to address the question whether I am under investigation by the federalgovernment. No, I am not under investigation. The Sparks Nugget was informed in November
2013 by the Department of Treasury that the Department was investigating whether it wasappropriate to impose civil penalties for possible violations of anti-money laundering
regulations. The matter arose from an audit-type examination conducted by the IRS at the casinoin 2010. This was all disclosed immediately to the buyer.
When the Nugget sale was completed in December 2013, the buyer, (Wolfhound
Holdings), assumed the responsibility to resolve the FinCEN issue of which we had been notifiedin November 2013. I have had no contact with FinCEN since. All communication with thefederal government has been with Wolfhound.
As a result, I did not feel it necessary to inform the Governor. Let me be direct -- I did
not purposely hold back information from the Governor.
I did disclose to Governor Sandoval and his staff the pending contractual litigationrelated to the sale involving the Nugget. I had no reason to believe that the litigation associated
with the sale of the Nugget would become so hostile that it would result in this kind of personalsmear. The recent news report that I was under investigation by the U.S. Department of
Treasury is news to me.
