I want us all to work together as citizens. I dont care if you are aD, an R or an I. Im a C, Im a citizen.Jennifer, Sterling Heights

Te Michigan House Democrats have traveled across the state, romHancock to Monroe and Detroit to Grand Rapids, to hear how policies inLansing are aecting middle-class amilies.

We heard rom seniors in Hancock who talked about how tax increases,

such as the Pension ax and reduction in the Homestead Property axCredit, have made it harder to make ends meet.

We heard teachers in Grand Rapids talk about how hard it is to give kids thetime and attention they need in over-crowded classrooms.

We heard in Western Wayne County how middle-class amilies couldntaord new taxes to x our roads.

And we heard in Washtenaw County that women are acing additionalburdens getting access to the health care they need.

Afer hearing rom hundreds o people rom across the state, one thingis clear: Te priorities o Lansings special interests arent working orMichigans middle-class amilies.

Te House Democrats are committed to a plan that works or Michigansmiddle-class amilies, not the big corporations and CEOs.

We are ready to get Lansing working on your side. Enclosed isMichigans Middle Class Plan.

    We will:

    Repealtaxesonourseniorsandmiddle-classfamilies.

    FundK-12educationsoourkidscancompetefor21stcenturyjobs.

Repeal Taxes on our Seniorsand Middle-Class Families

Across our state, time and time again, we listened to the impact onew taxes on middle-class amilies. Over the last two years, Gov. RickSnyder and the House Republicans eliminated or reduced the creditsthat help amilies bottom line and imposed a tax on senior pensions

    and retirement income.

Te loss o tax breaks and reduction o reunds hits pocketbooks andkitchen tables across Michigan. Middle-class amilies deserve relie, not more hardships. Te House Democrats will introduce bills thatrestoretheEarnedIncomeTaxCreditto11percentintherstyear,

ully restore the homestead property credit, repeal the pension andretirement tax and restore the child deduction.

We heard the struggle amilies are acing as they discover that they will not be

receiving a reund, or what they have been receiving has been slashed in hal.

Cant we at least just give some relie to those people who were retired when this came about? And that were

not saddled with an expense we didnt plan on? Unlike wages, our pensions dont go up.

Eliminate Barriersto Health Care for Women

FromHancocktoDetroit,CantontoGrandRapids, andfromSaginawto Sterling Heights, women everywhere know what Lansing politicianshave been doing in the past two years to limit access to healthcare:restricting insurance coverage, closing o health centers and denying

    access to preventive care.

We will introduce bills that open up access or women and amilies toreceive the preventive and critical health care services they need.

Instead o limiting access to health care, the House Democrats will

expand the number o providers that are allowed to dispense certainorms o birth control, prevent discrimination in employment becauseo reproductive decisions and remove burdensome and redundantregulations to clinics and amily planning services.

The House Democrats heard it rom mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts

rom one corner o the state to the other.

    Fix our Roads and Bridges

It isnt a secret that Michigans inrastructure is crumbling. Welistened to amilies rom across the state talk about the cost to theirpocketbookswhentheygetanothercarrepairbill.Butwedidntjusthear rom amilies, we heard rom small businesses and how they need

    areliablesystemofroadsandbridgestoexpandandcreatejobs.

We will introduce bills that ensure existing transportation unds areused or road construction and take advantage o historically lowinterest rates by renancing existing inrastructure bonds so our taxdollars are used to repair roads and bridges, not pay the big banks and

    CEOs on Wall Street.

While everyone agrees we need to fx our roads, the House Democrats

dont think middle-class amilies should get the bill.

We have nothing let to invest in our streets, and as long as there is some ormula to return that money back

to the local governments in a air way, thats going to be key.
