President Rachel thanked Michael and Andy with a small presentation.
From Lyndon:
Hello all,
Again thanks to all that took part in the previous trips to Timor Leste. Ken and Marilyn Sim are just back from Timor
Leste. They visited the Community Centre on Atauro and the Convent School in Atabae , were quite impressed with
the work and reported on good use of both facilities.
Rob Moore is getting into gear with the last part of the project in Maubisse, somewhere after July.
We have also been asked to help out with the eye clinic on Atauro island. This needs some renovation and
modifications. Ken and Marilyn produced a fairly detailed report, took lots of photos. The clinic is run by a Swiss (?)
NGO. there is some funding for the materials needed.
It looks like a project of say two weeks for a team of about six. We would need someone with electrical skills,
someone with plumbing skills and someone that knows about structural stuff (builder- bickie type person). We still
need to get some more details clarified. Accommodation would be at Barry’s place (Arturo isl).
I will follow up on this with Ken’s report and some photos.
Is anyone interested, can persuade your club to get involved or knows someone desperate to work for two weeks in
Timor? Please let me know!
PLEASE REPLY DIRECT TO CHRIS ANGERER AS PER EMAIL BELOW, NOT TO ME AS
DISTRICT SECRETARY AS MY EMAIL WILL BE UNATTENDED FOR NEXT 5 WEEKS (Byron
Groves).
Yours in Rotary
