1. Call to Oder Donna Fishkin called the meeting to order.
2. Approval of the November 13, 2012 CASSC Minutes
The minutes of the November 13, 2012 CASSC meeting were approved as
submitted.
3. Vice Provost’s Updates
Legislative Matters –
Baccalaureate Degree at Low Cost –
Dr. Montoya briefly discussed the possibility of offering baccalaureate degrees at
a low cost per Governor Scott’s recent public announcement.
Virtual Courses –
Tuition and fees for virtual courses might be reduced by 30% to 50%.
Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) –
The College is in the process of replacing the Odyssey system. The District Board
of Trustees has approved the funds and authorized College officials to begin the
research process to acquire a College-wide state-of-the-art comprehensive
computerized system. Gartner Consulting, Inc. has been hired to assist with the
identification of new software with features desired by the College. Gartner will
also be responsible for the implementation of the new system as well as for the
training of MDC employees.
Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) –
A QEP Leadership Topic Selection Team is established and working on identifying
a topic for the upcoming reaffirmation process. Town hall meetings and focus
groups have taken place at the campuses. Findings will assist in identifying areas
needing improvements.
SACS-COC Annual Meeting –
Pamela Menke and Michael Reiner are in Dallas, TX, attending the 2012 SACS-
COC Annual Conference.
Reaffirmation Leadership Orientation –
On January 27, 2013, Rolando Montoya, Pamela Menke, Lourdes Oroza, Greg
Knott and Allen McPhee, will be attending a Reaffirmation Leadership Orientation
in Atlanta, GA. This orientation session is designed for all undergraduate
institutions scheduled to complete the Commission’s reaffirmation review process
in June 2015.

Dean Mattie Watnik-Roig introduced Hector Garcia, Director, School of Justice who
presented state mandated changes to the Correctional Officer – County (57020) and
Correctional Officer – State (57021) programs. This request will be in compliance with the
new FLDOE Curriculum Framework, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

9. Announcement
Donna Fishkin, CASSC Chair, reminded College CASSC members that the next meeting will
be on January 15, 2013, 1:30 p.m., Room 2601 at the Wolfson Campus, and wished them a
safe and healthy holiday season.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
