EdTech101 is a coursethat focuses onthe teaching of
Instructional MediaResources.
Instructional Media
Resources?
Media Resources are designedto help teachers get their
message across to students.
There are six types of media:Text, Audio, Visual, Motion,Manipulatives and People
TEXT MEDIA
• Use of alphanumericcharacters• Chalkboard/multipurposeboard, visual aids,overhead transparencies,computer displays andprinted materials

AUDIO MEDIA
•Any material thatappeals to the senseof hearing•Audio tapes, MP3files, WAV files
*Input from Audio Group
VISUAL MEDIA• Any materials that have an effect on the sense
of sight• Two types:
– Projected Visual Aids: OHP, LCD Projector Microfilm Reader
– Non- Projected Visual Aids: drawings, cartoons, comics, illustrations, still pictures, posters, digital images, charts, diagrams, graphs, maps and globes

MOTION MEDIA• Combination of motion, color, and sound that
dramatizes ideas better than any medium• Video (Videotape, Videodisc, High- Definition
Television, Digital Video), Compact Disc Interactive, Digital Video Interactive)

PEOPLE MEDIA• TV People• Radio People• Teachers• Student• Techies
MANIPULATIVES•Items that students use to support hands-on learning.•Provide visible models that help students solve problems and develop concepts•Can be used to introduce, practice, or remediate a concept
REMEMBER! No media is better than theother. Each media has its prosand cons. Consider your audience (interms of age, learning style)before choosing what mediayou will use.
REMEMBER! Children can possibly learnbetter with multimedia. Use ofsuch is highly recommended.Making use of media is notequal to spending a lot. Thereare media formats or typeswhich costs zero or just a little.
REMEMBER!While a lot of resources areaccessible, be vigilant enoughabout copyright infringementand plagiarism. Start teaching bits and piecesof copyright and plagiarism toavoid such issues in the future.

Then let’s use it to our advantage.
Integrate technology and education.
Think about these!
1. Teachers must be able to welcome change. If we ourselves will resist it, how
will we expect our students to welcome it?
2. “Technology should never become the masterpiece of teaching”. It’s still
the content that matters
3. Keep in mind that there can be technical difficulties. There’s nothing wrong with
having back-ups.
4. Computers are great communication tools. But let’s watch for potential
“computer addict” students.
