MIDWESTFASHION WEEK

M E D I A P A C K A G E

WHO WE AREMidwest Fashion Week began in 2006 when Catou fashion designer, Berny Martin, saw a need for a Midwest outlet to showcase a range of local to international designers. MFW is also a power platform to showcase the talents of stylist, photographers, and models. Through the years, MFW has expanded past the traditional Fall and Spring series of shows. Smaller, private events take place throughout the year. These include:affordable fashion seminars, trunk shows featuring local designers and runway fashion shows. MISSION STATEMENTMidwest Fashion Week is dedicated to showcasing the creative efforts of the clothing design community. In so doing, MFW connects the dots between high and affordable fashion, which enables people to discover new ways of expressing their individuality through fashion. VISIONThe vision of Midwest Fashion Week is to create an entire lifestyle of upscale sophistication that lives on throughout the year. The idea is to provide Midwestern residents with the understanding that fashion is more than just clothes. It is everywhere and affects everyone. The art of fashion is present in theater, food, sports, music, fine arts, and more. The goal of Midwest Fashion Week is to explore these avenues by involving all walks of life, interests, and demographics.

LEADING FASHION IN THE MIDWESTThe East Coast has New York Fashion Week. The West

Coast has L.A. Fashion Week. So what about all the talented people who live and work in between? This

creative disparity is what prompted the launch of Midwest Fashion Week in 2006. Over the last six

years, MFW has given up-and-coming talents a place to showcase their work. The environment of MFW

stimulates networking and volunteering as well as allowing designers the opportunity to practice marketing and branding themselves within the

fashion industry.

DESIGNMFW was founded on the principle of

nurturing and supporting cultural enrichment and creative arts in the Midwest. Everything

we do is centered around art, design and how it is incorporated into our everyday lives.

MFW provides a unique opportunity to showcase the creative talents of designers, stylists, makeup artists, and the rest of the

artistic community.

EXPRESSIt is more than fashion. We provide designers

and artists with a community fostering inspiration and creative growth while

providing them an opportunity to gain experience through relationships with industry professionals. Whether their

passion is styling or makeup, photography, or designing, being a part of MFW allows young professionals to develop the necessary skills

to succeed in the fashion industry.

CONNECTIt is our belief that empowerment and active involvement are vital to the development of strong, long-lasting communities. By partnering with nonprofit organizations, MFW provides organizations with an avenue to become involved and to make an impact. Through these philanthropic efforts, we are displaying there is more to fashion than just images — there is a greater purpose as well.

MEDIA COVERAGEMFW has come a long way since its inception in

2006. By focusing on innovative partnerships and quality events, we have attracted an extensive

media following. With strong ties to local media, we are able to reach out to national media brands (i.e.

MTV and the Indianapolis Colts). To date, our media coverage has reached more than

4.5 million individuals worldwide.

The results from our efforts?

launched new campaigns, produced new media and spearheaded new marketing and advertising

projects. At the same time, we “raised the bar” on every event to further define Midwest Fashion Week

as the industry leader in our region.

We have raised over $70,000 during our Spring/Summer 2011 events for our nonprofits through partnerships with organizations such as the India-napolis Colts, Vitamin Water, and Indiana University North Hospital.

We have organized fashion shows at nightclubs, hotels, art galleries, upscale restaurants, and even sports stadiums. Through innovation and by provid-ing a wide variety of different locations and activi-ties, Midwest Fashion Week continues to make unprecedented growth. Our past Spring/Summer events saw over 5,000 attendees and this year we aim to far outpace that number.

We have expanded our media coverage to over 4.5 million individuals through partnerships with local

and national media organizations: MTV, Fox, WishTV, the IndyStar, Channel 13 and Lin Media. Also, by

expanding our social media through blogging, twittering, pinterest, and facebook, we reached out

to new demographics to share our vision.

To help build our community in and around Indianapolis, MFW has always been focused on giving back through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. We partnered with Down Syndrome Indiana and raised more than $70k to help children and families. Beyond financial support, we gave children with Down Syndrome a chance to be part of the magic as they took to the runway to model the latest designer fashions.
