Trained and certified over 400 farmers/collectors.
70 farmers currently implementing METRO requirements program.
01 farmer got Viet Gap certification.
With support from General Department of Fisheries (MARD) 25 other farmers will be certified by the end of December 2014.

Progress: Can Tho Fish Platform
• Mekong Delta sourced fish represents 60% of volumes of METRO fish assortment (>80 species with whole & processed; farmed & captured fish range).
• Can Tho Fish platform serves 19 METRO Cash & Carry Vietnam stores nationwide.
• Total volume of fish purchased through the platform has reached 4,000 MT after 2 years.
• The platform has played an increasingly important role in integrating the fresh fish cold chain into the domestic market, connecting farmers to the modern trade network, increasing farmers’ incomes as well as promoting good agricultural practices among farmers.

Next steps
• Key METRO requirement certified farmers will get VietGap certification (snake head fish, red tilapia, pangasius, climbing perch, and frog)
• Development of new packing and frozen assortments to improve volume buying
• Strategy of volume development through commitment with farmers to source 100% of METRO requirements/Viet Gap products for METRO customers.
• Can Tho Fish Platform to be HACCP (preparation is under progress)
