Jessica EscobarSAM, Inc. Expands GIS Services with Software PartnershipAustin, TX - October 5, 2012 -- Surveying And Mapping, Inc. (SAM, Inc.), a nationally recognized provider of geospatial data services, has signed a Value Added Reseller (VAR) agreement with 3-GIS, LLC, an Esri-recognized developer of geographic information system (GIS) software. This agreement allows SAM, Inc. to integrate 3-GIS's Express Solution software with SAM Inc.'s GIS capabilities to provide leading-edge GIS solutions.

The software, which runs on the industry leading ArcGIS platform from Esri, includes two main components – 3-GIS Network Express (Nx) and 3-GIS Field Express Chameleon (Fx) – plus a synchronization engine that automatically synchronizes cached data.

The ability to integrate the software through this VAR will enhance SAM, Inc.'s capabilities to provide implementation, data acquisition, migration, conversion, and hosting services, as well as placing SAM, Inc. as the first line of support for its clients using 3-GIS software. These services will compliment SAM, Inc.'s core business which includes airborne and mobile LiDAR, traditional surveying, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), utility coordination, and construction services. The agreement will also allow the firm to offer an integrated, Esri-based GIS solution to the electric and gas distribution, telecommunications, electric transmission, oil and gas pipeline, and transportation industries.

News Around Texasvisits to the SkillsUSA classrooms, including 3-4 hour sessions on some Saturdays. Marshall's team also monitored and judged local, regional and state survey competitions last school year.

"Jessica is the third Texas SkillsUSA student to obtain the NSPS Certified Survey Technician certification, and she's the first female student to do so," he said. "She is also the youngest student to obtain the certification.

"The commitment from Chapter 5 is paying off in several ways, including exposing high school students to the survey profession and positive public relations."

The SkillsUSA Surveying Program at DHS is led by Engineering Instructor Barton C. Burnett, who attended the first TSPS Educators Retreat in Corpus Christi. It was there he became excited about the prospect of adding a sur-veying module to the SkillsUSA curriculum at his school.

"He connected with Bill Coleman, and he came out saying it was the best teacher-type seminar he'd ever attended," Freeman said. "He learned so much about something he knew nothing about, and he realized he could incorporate the surveying into his Engineering program."

Burnett has reached out to Dallas Chapter 5 for their help with the Novem-ber 2 Fall Leadership Conference at Texas State Technical College in Waco. DHS is part of District 6, which includes high schools from Waco to the Red River, and just east of I-35.

***THANK YOU***

For more information about SurPAC and its important mission, please visit: http://www.tsps.org/resources/surpac-legislative

TSPS encourages all Chapters to reach out to their legislators and invite them to a chapter meeting or host a Meet & Greet luncheon or dinner so TSPS can get to know state leaders and let them know who we are, what we do and why we are important.

An important part of this process is to make contributions to those leg-islators who are supportive of TSPS’s legislative agenda. TSPS needs to increase its level of commitment so that its impact with elected officials will become more significant.

TSPS needs to raise $5,000 in SURPAC contributions before November 6, 2012 (updated figure from Oct. 9). At the Chapter Presidents Luncheon on Saturday, August 18th, a bucket was passed and more than $1,800 was collected. That was great but we need to raise the remainder to be able to contribute to our friends in the House and Senate.

SurPAC Contributions A Must Before New SessionAt Strategic Planning, TSPS President Elect Curtis Strong encouraged every registered member of TSPS to keep a jar on their desk and donate a quarter a day, Monday through Friday, for a year and that would total $65.00. Then if every registered TSPS member would do the same we would have more than $74,000 for SURPAC.

SurPAC contributions must be made by personal checks (no corporate checks accepted) to SurPAC, and mailed to the TSPS office address at:

TSPSAttn: SurPAC2525 Wallingwood Dr., #300Austin, TX 78746

Please complete the SurPAC Donation Form below and mail it with your contribution.
