• Metalwork is a Three Year Course. • It ends with the Junior Certificate Exam in 3rd Yr. • There is a Higher & Ordinary Level • It is divided into two parts:

– Practical (Metalwork Room)

• Theory ( Classroom)

• Students make things out of metals & plastics, including electronics. It exposes them to different applications of technology. They learn about design and use different machines, materials, tools and processes to make their projects.

• Students learn about the following areas:

• Materials (Metals & Plastics)

• Processes

• Machining (Lathe, Drill, etc.)

• Plastic Forming (Bending, Moulding, etc.)

• Joining ( Soldering, Brazing, Screw threads)

• Hand Tools & Skills– (Measuring, Cutting, Material removal )

• Projects– How to design, make and finish a project.
