The TechnologyThe Technology• Nothing moves but the projectile• Electronically controlled• Alternating rounds and propellant

charges are factory packed into tubes• An electrical fire control system

controls the primers that actuate the propellant charges

• The tip of each projectile seals the tube upon firing of the preceding round

Combat ApplicationsCombat Applications• Simplicity of design allows for high

level of versatility– among applications – within the same application

• Potential uses include:– Vehicle/ship self defense– Armed unmanned vehicles– Anti-missile systems– Bio/Chem cloud neutralization– Area denial systems

Current Level of DevelopmentCurrent Level of Development

• There are two projects that could see field testing within the next couple years:– Four-barrel EGL (Electronic Grenade

Launcher) incorporated with the Talon unmanned vehicle

– Four-barrel EGL incorporated with the Dragonfly DP-4X UCAV

• Other recent developments of interest:– Development of 40mm flash bang round– Development of 40mm shoulder fired

EGL– 40mm cartridge reload system
